Thoughts about disabling speedstep for DAW audio production ??

I know this is an old thread. but since I wrote that comment in the presonus knowledge base, I think I should comment here as well. at the time the easy way to disable it (as stated in that original comment) was to set audio-buffer size to 128 or lower. meaning, when you have low latency, the latency that cpu-state-switching could cause could lead to dropouts. which it did not, as it was disabled automatically. the main problem were core-parking and hyper-threading btw. I do not have any knowledge about the current state of this, and I have never had the kind of problems that I had with windows < 8 with a current Mac or HackMac.

TLDR: don't worry about this unless you have spikes regardless of the involved plugins.

Disabling eist and speedstep seams to work best for me at the moment.
Unfortunately NI Maschine seams to work much more efficient under Windows as under macOS.
The Graphics seam to be slower on Windows which shows itself by slow opening GUIs compared to macOS

OT: have you tried a non-USB audio-interface??
