How to extend the iMac Pro to X99 [Successful Build/Extended Guide]

They can't! You need DSM2...kext to load the correct AppleUSBXHCIPCI driver!

Do your USB ports work now? If yes.. leave everything at it is..

Yes, apart from the Orion32 sound card. Don't get me wrong KGP, I'm not trying to criticise your guide or anything.
So you're saying that despite the fact that the injector kexts don't load, they somehow make AppleUSBXHCIPCI load the proper XHC drivers? This seems a bit illogical (again, not criticising, with all due respect for your great work, I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this whole thing).

yup ;) DSM2..kext injects driver AppleUSBXHCILPTH of AppleUSBXHCIPCI and the different XHC USB HS and SS ports..

Hello kgp
One question that came to my mind.... is there a benefit to also use IMacPro1.1 SMbios vs the MacPro6.1 for X99 systems?
For X299 systems, there seems to be a clear benefit
Thanks, Mike

I would not know any... skylake-X/X299 mandatory..

Thank you very much KGP, this is really valuable feedback. I'll test accordingly. I was just losing hope since I tried so many things and then I saw that the injector kexts don't even load... But now that I know they're not even supposed to load, it changes the situation.

Hi,

I was unable to update to 10.13.3 .
Now strange part is that I've tried various install packages and all fail with the same error:
"An unexpected error occurred while moving files to the final destination."

I have the latest apfs.efi and all.

Upon further investigation I found this in the logs:
Code:

How on earth I am going to get passed this? I am thinking, maybe manually copy to missing files?
Any ideas are welcomed.

Seems that you are not properly creating the macOS Usb Flash Drive Installer...

Are you saying I should not use the official update dmg and instead try to make macOS USB Installer Flash Drive and update with that one? Wouldn't that Flash Drive overwrite my current installation? I have 10.13.2 installed.

Which update dmg? You don't use a the Appstore to perform the update?

Alternatively you can indeed use a USB Installer Flash Drive with the macOS 10.13.3 Full Package Installer, which should not do anything else then the update of your 10.13.2 System ...

Good luck

I tried using this file: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1953?locale=en_GB

If anything else fails, I will try with a Full Package Installer.
