do you mean that the efi partitions need to be always visible? How do I do that?
No, I'm just saying if your hard drive won't boot its not set up properly.

That is the question isn’t it? :banghead:

Go back and double check if you added the EFI folder correctly to your hard drive. If you believe everything is correct and the bios still does not see it as a boot option then if you have Windows try this, in line five you need to find the OpenCore EFI boot file instead.

Windows: EasyUEFI
  1. Download and install the EasyUEFI utility.
  2. Start it and click the Manage EFI Boot Option button.
  3. Click the plus button in the center column of the main window to create a new entry.
  4. In Type select "Linux or other OS" then in Description enter "Clover Boot Manager".
  5. Click on the appropriate EFI partition in the disk list then click the Browse button and select the \EFI\CLOVER\CLOVERX64.efi file.
  6. Click OK twice and confirm the new entry is correct on the main window.
  7. Click the Power menu and select Reboot to verify the Clover Boot

I made a new EFI folder with open core 0.6.2 (latest version) perfectly compatible with this hardware. If anyone is interested I can post it here.
I would be ready for Big Sur when it'll comes out :)

You should post it for others, @ModMike hasn't updated his EFI folders for quite a while.

Following the perfect work made by @ModMike, I build a new EFI folder based on Open Core 0.6.2.

If someone want to try or want to change something, let me know.

When 0.6.3 will released, I'll update it, so we'll ready for Big Sur from day 1.

Cheers.

As far as I know you do not have the "F1" bug which on booting up brings you to the Bios Screen pronouncing you have started in 'Safe Mode". There is a fix for that...
I have the F1 Bug on my Asus ProArt Z490 Creator motherboard based system. Do you have a link for the cure? Or is a BIOS setting? Any help here would greatly be appreciated.

i've figured out a solution to not having to use a USB stick to get into mac OS Catalina

1) run diskutility
2) create a 200mb partition (choose MSDOS Fat and give it a name of "EFI") on the highest level of your main drive
3) copy over your EFI folder that you've been using (the one you've been using on the USB installation stick) onto this new partition
4) restart your computer, enter bios and choose that partition (beginning with "eufi") to boot up from.

Note: when I entered my bios boot options, I had 3 identical looking options to choose from. I started with the first, then the second, and that last one worked).

Hope that helps anyone else stuck.

@Stork hope this helps but I can't take credit for it. For both the Z390 and Z490 Asus boards we've been using a kernel patch that does the trick for the ROG Strix e Gaming models. I've attached @scope666 config.plist that contains the kernel patch. Be curious to hear your findings.
