Would suggest running Unigine's Heaven and Valley benchmarks in Big Sur and having a look at the frame rates. (And then compare with frame rates in High Sierra.)

Not to my knowledge. Perhaps until some official confirmation of the driver's origins?

I realise I've been told not to be so sceptical about them, it does seem I may be being over-cautious. So many builders need these - me included.

So after almost giving up on it, finally today (Jul 17) I turned on my Mac and to my rejoice I saw that the 387-10-10-10-40-139 driver works again! will it stay like that for a long time?

sorry but would you like to say that you managed to install the driver directly on the 17G65 version of high sierra?
to my knowledge the driver requires version 17G14042 ... how did you do that?
