The 4K Dell OptiMac - 9020 MT - Core i7-4790 - Radeon RX 570 - LG 4K IPS Monitor

Here's a low cost option for those with a 4K monitor with DP input. Selling for $45 right now on Ebay.com
I haven't tested this specific card but all my Nvidia cards sleep and wake normally unlike AMD cards.

The seller does professional refurbishing and has a return policy so no worries there. Note that these are workstation class cards, no good for any kind of gaming. Uses very little power so your OEM Dell PSU is powerful enough. If you need a LP bracket for the SFF Optiplex just ask the seller for one. Brand new NVS 510s sell for $258 on Ebay.

Was this after updating to Catalina, or after... what change(s)?

Does it makes sense to try to hack Dell Optiplex 7020 SFF PC i3 3,5GHz 500GB 4GB USB 3.0 DVD with Intel HD 4400 graphics ? It's very cheap on Ebay...

Thanks for your opinion!

I'm certain that if you look for an i5 version with HD4600 you can come very close to the price of the i3. I wouldn't use HD4400 exclusively but you could possibly install a dedicated graphics card and use the i3. In my opinion, it's always better to have 4 cores instead of 2. The i3s don't really offer much energy savings over an i5. You can also get the i5s in the lower clocked S versions if you want lower clock speeds and lower energy consumption. i5's have more L3 cache, double actually. That is important for performance. iMacs from 2013/14 used the exact same i5 Haswell CPUs you can get in the 7020/9020 Optiplex models.

Dell is selling their refurbs with HD 4400 on Ebay for $129 which is about the same as the i5 versions cost.

You can get an i5-4590 version for the same price. The choice is easy.

When brand new, an i5-4590 cost almost $200. Now you can get the whole computer + Windows license, not just the CPU, for $129. That is a great deal. You can also find great i5 and i7 Optiplex deals on Newegg so check there regularly for prices similar to these.

When I built my first Gigabyte hackintosh in 2012 it had a core i3-2105 and 8GB of ram and cost me over $550. I had to order each part separately and put them together. It was a valuable experience but expensive. It wasn't nearly as fast as this Dell Optiplex is. The price of just the Gigabyte Z68 motherboard was about $120.

If I could have bought something this good for $129 that runs the latest macOS available. That would have been an easy choice too.
