Secondly, I notice you have switched to OpenCore, has that had any impact on the sleep not working with a graphics card issue?
No, it hasn't made any difference in waking from sleep when the RX 570 is installed. Putting my machine to sleep and keeping it asleep has always worked perfectly even when using Clover. It's only the waking up to a black screen that has been the problem.

getting a motherboard fan error

If memory serves Dell use a 5 pin fan header, this may be the source of the error.

We use a 5 pin to 4 pin adapter to get around the nonsense proprietary Dell 5 pin issue.

Just to throw in my two penny-worth ...

Does the fact the fans are 3-pin models, have any bearing?

I only mention it because I have one in a box somewhere.

They also sell 4-pin PWM models as well. I think that is what bjay77 has used.

Thank you. Yeah I am using a noctua NA-FC1 fan controller connected to the case fan header via a 5 to 4 pin cable. The cpu fan is connected directly to the cpu cooler fan via another 5 to 4 pin cable. The system works fine with 2 140mm be quiet silent wings fans in the front and a CM silencio 120mm fan (came with the S400 case) in the exhaust. The 120mm exhaust fan is providing the rpm info to the fan controller (4pin). The CM hyper 212 black rgb fan is connected to the cpu header directly. In this config both case fan and cpu fans get the green light from the bios on start up with no errors.

If i swap the CM hyper 212 blacks rgb fan for one of my new be quiet 120mm high speed fans I get a cpu fan error. If i swap the rear case fan for a new be quiet 120mm high speed fan I get a case fan error (when its connected as the rpm info fan). I'm assuming it is something to do with how the fan starts up. just by watching it, there does seem to be a delay in the be quiet fans starting to spin after i switch on the power while the old fans seem to start spinning straight away so maybe they are too slow in spinning up for the bios check

The 120mm SW3 high speed editions spin from around 400 to 2200rpm

ps that silverstone thing you attached a picture of is my NVME adapter!

I got the 4 pin pwm versions of the 120mm high speed fans. They make both 3 and 4 pin versions of the same SW3 fans.

I plan on testing one of these 4 pin Noctua fans that are even quieter. I don't think it will have any issues but I'll only know once it's tested.

Ah yes, I forgot all about that. These Dell machines really force one to spend money on adapters !

So what are the benefits of switching from my working clover/mojave build to OC?
