What a delightful little box, everything works!

..haven't changed the wifi card yet, though..

By far the easiest install I've done so far,

thanks!

How is the noise on this thing? My nuc is quiet, except under load. The Mac mini is almost silent.

Of course, glad to help! :)

I followed TonyMacs instructions
starting this thread:
first:
put TonyMac's DSDT.aml on desktop
( find & download from the first post of this thread)

run Multibeast w/ - UserDSDT
(this takes care of almost everything,
and is patched to also give you HDMI)
remember to check Network:

- Realtek - Lnx2Mac's RealtekRTL81xx
(for ethernet)

that's it.

I haven't fixed wifi yet.. nor Bluetooth..
I hope I can use the card from my HP Probook,
we'll see...

re: noise
I chose the i3, since I gather the power consumption
is much lower, and performance/watt ratio is excellent.

I can hear it during GeekBench, otherwise not;
my external USB drive makes more noise,
not to mention my DV drive...

Veeery interesting. Pondering a CustoMac Mini to use as a HTPC, but looks like this would do the job nicely.

That said, UtterDisbelief has a point - if I'm right, this wee BRIX is basically a motherboard, processor, case and psu? So breaking it down, it's really not that much less than the equivalent parts for the customac, which would (end up) being a better rig?

I have been wondering if you can take out the riser screw to mount the mSATA card and be able to install a full size Apple Airport card, as I have a number of those. broupe or TonyMac, do you think that would be possible?

No, not without major surgery..
the PCIe connector is not directly under the mSATA connector,
but closer to the back panel, maybe half an inch.
Good idea, though..

While waiting for my wifi card
I hooked up an old Bluetooth dongle,
the cheap, miniature kind..
- it never worked very well before
but this time BT behaves perfect,
both with Apple Wireless Keyboard
and Magic Trackpad, all gestures works
I hope it stays connected..
