T480s having problems updating

I've deleted the "patched" folder. I replace the config.plist file with that provided here https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...catalina-public-beta-installation-usb.278188/.

I am not sure which kexts are essential. I could delete them all and only use those referred to in https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...catalina-public-beta-installation-usb.278188/. Is that a sensible approach?
using a desktop smbios is wrong
try a clean one from the laptop guide

I have completely redone the USB installer according to the guidelines of RehabMan. Unfortunately, the kernel panic still appears the same way it did before. I attach my clover folder (having pressed both F2 and F4 this time, although only F2 seems to produce a log file).

With this version, I get stuck right after starting the install process. I have to admit though that I was not able to select all option that RehabMan provided...

" in "Bootloader", check "Install boot0af in MBR" ("Install boot0ss in MBR" for HDD install if dual-boot Windows) " is not available for example ...

I have looked a bit through the verbose lines and this stuck out to me...

nx_volume_group_update:6164: Volume disk1 role 0 Not a System or data volume

Could it be that there is a problem with my Samsung EVO 1TB (not plus!)?

SUCCESS with a combination of RehabMan's guide using clover v2.4k r4972 and then replacing the files in drivers64UEFI by those provided by linusyang92.

I have no idea why but it worked ...

I was able to reproduce the kernel panic by inserting linusyang92's kexts/Other/* without overriding any of RehabMan's essential kexts ...

So far, I nailed it down to those eight kexts possibly being problematic ...

I found VirtualSMC.kext to be the one causing the kernel panic.
