Heya! I've been a mac user for the last three years however I recently got a new machine and I went with a custom built PC since macs just didn't offer the power I was looking for. I didn't put the machine together with a hackinotsh in mind, so I wonder how compatible my hardware is, thanks!.

Intel core i7 2.4ghz 3770k ivy bridge
16GB Corsair 1600mhz RAM
EVGA GTX 670 2048MB
2x60GB OCZ SSD, Agility 3 and Vertex 2GB
Gigabyte Z77X-D3H motherboard

The mobo has unsupported audio:!:

Oh okay, so does this necessarily mean I won't get any sound support?

Erm... this is not correct but kind of. level5 made changes in the VoodooHDA kext to make the VIA VT2021 audio chips working on OS X, but we are not recommending to buy a motherboard with VIA audio because the bugs.

Here you can download the kext and read the other people opinion in general.

Ah okay, so it won't work out of the box without kexts and so results may vary.

On a side note, all of the tutorials that I've seen for mountain lion seem to use an 8GB usb stick. Is it possible to use DVDs instead? Mountain Lion is important for GTX 670 support it would seem.

It hasn't got enough space...
