AppleHDA Surround Sound [Guide]

Read the specs
VLC_v2.1.4 - Yes/DD PL II/LPCM (DD/DTS) means stereo.
MPlayerX_v1.0.22.1 - Yes/DD D/DTS (Preferences/Audio/Pass through AC3=Yes/DTS=Yes) means specific Preference settings.
Did you miss Post #1/Recommendations?

got it, thank you!
i didn't realize that vlc works only in stereo, trough optical!
luckily, i have just received as gift the new yamaha 4920 bundle!!!!so happy!

thank you again for your hard work

I think that I have followed the steps laid out in this guide but still can't get analog 5.1 audio to work on an old set of Logitech 5.1 speakers.

In the Audio MIDI setup I can only get static out of the front left and right speakers but not center. either of the back speakers or the subwoofer.

I am running Yosemite with a ga-z77x-ud5h rev1.1 motherboard. I have ALC898 enabled and I tried to enable the Optional 3-port (5.1) Audio through MultiBeast but it didn't make a difference. I've also tried all 3 audio IDs

Any help that you could provide would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.

Done. Nothing changed.

How do u mean, could u be more specific?

With the new method, I just needed to run the terminal command to enable alc898 sound, did not need to run multibeast at all. Could I just install the required kexts through the latest multibeast into the clover efi partition?

how is it off topic ?
No idea what problem you are solving.
To be clear:
1. No 898 audio; surround sound not possible, off topic.
2. Working 898 audio; surround sound possible, see Post #1.

Is there any solution for this on "el Capitan" ?

Thanks.
