Hi there,

I have built and successfully installed a hackintosh with

Gigabyte z390 Aorus Master, i9900k, 64 GB Ram, evo 970 Plus, and a Saphire RX5700XT Nitro+.
All is working fine, have a BT dongle running, iMessages is fine. JPEG preview is fine.

The damn thing just will not shutdown or reboot.
When I choose "Shut down..." from the menu, applications are closed, I go back to black desktop screen, the mouse pointer disappears and then nothing. The HDD LED on my board flickers on for a while, but that's it.
When I choose "Restart ..." the system just stops. Same happens when I type "sudo reboot".

I have created my own USBmap.kext with USBMaster following the suggestions here:

and here:
Here I made a quick video explaining how to generate your own USB SSDT/kext

I'm pretty confident that I have my USB ports covered with this (only 15 left injected).

Are there any suggestions on how to debug shutdown or reboot problems?
I have attached my EFI in case anyone's interested.

Cheers,

Robie

Hmmm..
I have added „EmuVariableUefi.efi“ to Clover/drivers/UEFI.
I did have slide=0 already in my boot options.

funny thing happened:
on the first reboot the hackintosh started fine.
shutdown worked ! Took a minute or so, but the computer completely shut down.

On the next boot Clover stops right away with:
error allocating 0x53536 pages
Couldn‘t allocate runtime area
Boot failed!

Went in via the recovery partition, removed EmuVariableUefi.efi - but no luck.
The hackintosh is no longer booting. First lines, when I select the partition in clover is "Couldn't allovate runtime area".

I'm running out of ideas, how to fix this again.
Re-Install - one more time?

I can live with the original problem, but I'm a bit grumpy that I managed to kick myself out so completely.

Found a guide, "Couldn't allocate runtime area", on ******: Understanding and fixing "Couldn't allocate runtime area" errors

I needed to disable my iGPU !
Now it boots again and with the added „EmuVariableUefi.efi“ the system shuts down properly and can reboot.
JPEG quickview and preview works too, despite the disabled iGPU.

Looks good again !
