I recently installed ml on my laptop, and everything works great, with the exception of WiFi and the sound card. The vooodoo hda drivers gave me some audio, but the quality was unlistenably bad. I decided to install one of the newer less stable versions of the voodoo driver, but my laptop began to emit an earsplitting screech upon boot. Say what you will about Acer aspire speakers, it was plenty loud enough to be painful. Because I couldn't get to the login screen and delete the kext without destroying my eardrums, I ended up reinstalling everything.
Is there a reliable USB sound card that I could buy that would work out of the box? I have heard good things about this: http://www.sybausa.com/productInfo.php?iid=248

Thanks!

You've probably already gone ahead and ordered something....
But I have personally tried these and they all work with MtnLion.
And they are very affordable.

That 59077 shows up as a USB headset for some reason, but it works fine.
All 3 work out-of-the-box w/out needing additional kexts.
And the ones that have buttons even work correctly w/no effort under OSX.

enjoy...

Poster,

Did you have any luck with purchasing a sound card? I am in search for one also, for some odd reason my onboard audio sucks. I have to turn it up pretty high and I hear alot of white noise.
