Hello,

I'm currently using OS X Yosemite and my sound disappears suddenly during a normal workflow. Also I loose my audio after long sleep. Tested front jack and rear ports with my headphones.
A simple reboot solves the problem temporary.

Motherboard: Gigabyte Z87X - UD4H
MultiBeast 7.0.0: Realtek ALCxxx > ALC898

maybe someone can help me :)

Switch system profile to iMac 14,2. Worked for me. Alternatively you could install an older audio driver from multibeast. Don't recall which version.

iMac 14,2 will introduce will require 'antipop' solution.

I'm having this problem as well with the 898. Just upgraded to El Capitan (OS X 10.11.4, with Multibeast 8.1.0). In the past, I would have to run Multibeast 6.1.0 as you describe, but that same version of Multibeast no longer runs — it crashed during build.
