Finally I solved all the issues for the High Sierra installation for this board.

Screen Shot 2017-11-15 at 18.40.00.png

I use USB2, USB3 not needed.

BIOS F10:

- Disable USB3 FRONT
- Disable onboard audio, IEEE 1394 (Buy an external audio USB)
- Enable ACPI

Here a short guide:

  1. Create High Sierra installation USB with Unibeast 8.1
  2. Boot from USB, select the installer and press enter. It may take a while to reach install screen.
  3. Partition your SSD drive (GUID), and install High Sierra
  4. After 5/6 minutes the installer reboots the machine, at the Clover bootscreen select the Installer again! (to not convert to APFS)
  5. At Installer screen, select Terminal; enter: /Volumes/Image\ Volume/No-Convert , this will take some time. Move the mouse every 2 minutes. Otherwise screen will freeze.
  6. When ready, reboot and now boot from the SSD HighSierra (just press enter), it reboots, then run again from SSD High Sierra. (until it finish the install)
  7. When High Sierra desktop appears. You need to create a Clover Boot USB. (because you cannot boot from SSD)
  8. Download Clover_v2.4k_r4297
  9. Format your USB as Master Boot Record
  10. Run Clover 4297, Select USB as destionation

  11. Use these settings. Disable all settings which are not visible in the screenshot

  12. When finished the USB install with Clover, put FakeSMC.kext in EFI/Clover/kexts/Other
  13. Put DSDT.aml in EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched (This DSDT is to fix the Sleep issue)
  14. Download Clover Configurator , open EFI/Clover/config.plist in Clover Configurator
  15. Verify these settings:

16. Generate SMBIOS at the SMBIOS sections. (use iMac13,1)

17. Save the file and exit Clover Configurator

17. If you have an AMD Graphics card like 6850, open the config.plist in TextEdtor. Search for:
Graphics sections; set:

<key>RadeonDeInit</key>
<true/>

Nice @muis. We had some conversations around this build, glad you got things to a pretty good place.

What is RadeonDeInit for? We both have this HD 6850 in our systems (for me it's not the system in my sig, it's an older system), and I was having an issue with the color palette shifting from normal to a purplish tint and back. The boot.log correctly identified the card. I ended up following the advice of another forum member and installed SwitchResX (I think QuickRes and EasyRes can also do the job, EasyRes is free in the App Store), which allows me to change the colors from 'billions' to 'millions' which solves the issue I was having.

Regarding you being unable to boot from the SSD and being required to keep a USB drive inserted for booting clover, I would love to get information from any other members of the forum on what could be causing that behavior. Curious under what condition a USB and an SSD would behave differently like that if the EFI folder is the exact same (as our conversation indicated it was).

Hey @aol, the RadeonDeInit is to get your ' screen ' back after sleep. (major issue in Sierra/ HSierra ONLY for AMD RADEON).

Im also very curious about the SSD failure to boot. Seems nobody talks about it.

Did you create Unibeast installer in UEFI mode or legacy?

I'm about to try and get High Sierra going on my Z68xp-UD3p
