this is interesting.

i haven't dug that far into my bios yet. maybe i'll need to. mywhitenoise is reporting no kps with G.Skill Ripjaws RAM. i'm tempted to buy the new chips but hate to drop the money.

Just to add one more thing. I have been testing the effects of using RAM in different slots and I can confirm using slot 1+3 is the fastest configuration I found. using 1+2 yielded -2000 points on geekbench multi compared with 1+3. I can't compare it to all four slots filled until i receive my other RAM chips in the post.

When you tested was that result repeatable?

I just tested on my board which is Z97X-UD5H-BK Rev 1.0 with two sticks of G.Skill Trident X 2400mhz and using the recommended Grey memory slots DDR3_1 & DDR3_2 my Geekbench score is 20500 but swapping to DDR3_1 & DDR3_3 drops my score to 19400

Hi

Sorry, I didn't explain my RAM setup very well. Currently I am using both black slots, this is mainly because I get similar scores regardless of using black or grey (providing I use both black or both grey) Clover would display my RAM as 0MHZ in GeekBench when using only grey slots. After some more benchmarking today I noticed this has been fixed in a newer version of clover so it doesn't matter if I use grey or black. Also I was having a strange bug with the dock not showing when I used only grey slots :/

Attached are some fresh benchmarks I did this evening, unfortunately since my system is now so heavily built software wise it has blurred the lines on my scores, but you can still see a large improvement. These tests are using the CPU without any overlocking, very similar to OP setup.

I'm interested to know your config as I've never been able to get a score over 19,000 let alone 20,000 with the same setup as you.

EDIT: Just noticed that using anything other than grey slots displays my CPU as 3999 instead of 4000, very strange :/

If you want to try it this is what you need to do:

And here is the cause of my particular issue:

thanks for asking. even with the ram back in bank 0, i'm having at least one overnight kernel panic a day. it doesn't make sense to me that it would work before without problem and now have a problem. i'll have to look in to the g.skill ripjaws ram. is that in the buyers guide? anything special about that i should know? are you running 16 or 32? 2 chips or 4?

thanks,

I've had one panic since installing the G.Skill Ripjaws (nearly a week of use). When the panic happened, it was when waking from sleep...but instead of doing a complete reset, it just logged me out. Once I logged back in, all my windows that had been opened popped back up. I manually restarted my computer, and was then notified of the kernel panic that had happened.

My build's not bullet proof just yet, but the new RAM has been a far greater improvement over the Crucial Ballistix I had before. They're not in the buyers guide, but even Stork said that using their guide doesn't count as "research"...kind of funny, really. They're compatible with our motherboard, though. I bought 2 8GB sticks.

thanks for this; i changed it and will see what happens. i also added two more memory chips. one thing i noticed, though, was, instead of 1.5, mine shows 1.35. i don't know what that means or why it's not showing 1.5 like yours.

here's the geekbench i ran with a few apps running:

i'm not totally sure what that means, either. any thoughts?

No, I didn't say that! I said,
Stork said:
Just because your memory manufacturer is from the Buyers Guide doesn't mean it's compatible - it has to be the same make & model # because some of the Crucial Ballistix Tactical model #s are not on the memory support list.
If you're going to quote me, be sure you get it right.

Thanks! This tutorial is great.
I used UniBeast/MultiBeast method and successfully install Yosemite but got random freeze.
So I followed up this guide and it seemed to work.
But I got another problems.

After I restarting it always shows "You shut down your computer because of a problem" and count down 60s to log in. All function normally but just annoying. And I found I can't shut down my computer. Everytime I click shutdown and it boot automatically like rebooting.

I followed this guide step by step and placing ethernet kext and FakeSMC to EFI Partition, and edit config.plist followed by Tonymac's Clover Guide #2 reply from lexone. And use my own SSDT generated from this guide.

I use EVGA GT740 graphic card.

The following is the message report I got

[Update]
Okay, just a report. After remove SSDT, I can shutdown my computer and that message "You shut down your computer because of a problem" don't show up everytime when I boot.

I'm interested to know your config as I've never been able to get a score over 19,000 let alone 20,000 with the same setup as you.

EDIT: Just noticed that using anything other than grey slots displays my CPU as 3999 instead of 4000, very strange :/

My system is overlocked to 5ghz hence the Geekbench score. I usually don't run it at 5 ghz although its stable but drop it to 4.9ghz which gives me a Geekbench score of around 20,100. If I drop it to 4.8ghz Geekbench is around 19,750 but running only a fraction over stock voltage. Each chip will be different - I have not tried pushing mine beyond 5ghz as even with a XSPC AX360 rad cooling only the CPU temps start getting close to 90C when run running stability tests like Prime 95 and OCCT

First of all, thanks for the great guide, worked really well, got my system up and running as I have nearly the exact same system but I've got a GTX 980. The biggest problem I have at the moment is Hibernate/Sleep. The computer will sleep for 2 seconds and then startup again. How do I resolve this issue?
