For work reason I'm using for a long time Apple devices so for personal use I cannot have a different OS. it clashes with my daily work. But all we know Apple prices in relation of the hardware used. So I used macOS on an HP laptop that worked well until a couple a months ago when it start to became really old for my daily use.
I cannot spend a fortune for a good Apple machine, and, however, something I'd like to spent time in gaming. With a limited budget I started to plan a machine with a latest generation hardware, without a super CPU (I'm not in a hurry), a basic motherboard that could support it and could be upgradable, and a Video Card that should give me a more snappy Mac machine and at same time can give me discrete gaming session. So I had to choose for my budget from nVidia GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 560. The choice fall on the second one thanks to native support in macOS since 10.12.6+ And it really is... with the right Clover tweaks and some kext I can count on a stable machine without any single graphic issue on Mac side, neither in installation (directly with RX560) or update process. Also for game on Win10, I can play title as CoD:WWII at high detail without any issue.

Installation on Crucial MX300 SSD
MacOS High Sierra 10.3.2 (updated with 10.3.3)
(those steps are tested and working only on my configuration. Maybe could work for similar hardware but I cannot be sure)
- Create USB Installation disk as described https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/guide-booting-the-os-x-installer-on-laptops-with-clover.148093/ using GPT method
- in EFI partition of USB Disk paste my provided EFI-USB folder attached to the post
- Boot PC selecting the USB disk UEFI partition just created. Follow the usual step to install OS described in the link before.
- I choose to NOT CONVERT SSD to APFS. For now I stay with HFS+J with which I have no issue... but you're free to decide what you want...
- After installation complete, and you boot into installed macOS, download the latest CLOVER and install it. DO NOT REBOOT OS. Mount EFI Partition (but if you had just installed Clover, you should have it already mounted) and replace EFI/CLOVER folder with the one I provide in attachment (EFI-Installed). It is superfluous to remind, but make sure to rename the folder I provide t match EFI/EFI/CLOVER...
- Finally Reboot OS
What Works
(almost everything)
Sound (ALC887) with Audio Fix thanks some kext in EFI/CLOVER/Kext/Other and some tweak in config.plist
Ethernet
Video - Native with Radeon RX560 - only need Lilu.kext and WhatEverGreen.kext plus other tweaks in Clover Config to avoid any possible issue and activate HEVC Support
USB 2.0 and 3.1
Sleep/Wake
Native Power Management
App Store, iBook, iMessage
Not Tested
HD630 Sleep/Wake (no need to try)
