I felt like this build shouldn't have worked. This was my first build ever, and I think I took a huge plunge with the components I chose. I don't think I saw a build that had the same components as mine. (If anyone does find one let me know!! I'd like to speak to them haha.) This was almost a show but it managed to work out. (Beginner's luck.)

The idea I had going in with this build is to dual boot with Mac and Windows 7. I had one Samsung SSD 250GB for Yosemite and another Samsung SSD 250GB for Windows 7. I also partitioned the 2TB Seagate drive into separate OS X and Windows HDD. I ran into some issues with Windows 7 as I think that, if you do exFAT in OS X, it'll corrupt somehow in Windows 7. So you have to partition the Windows HDD in NTFS for it to work again.

Now I had no idea what I was doing as my friend who built his didn't do a hackintosh but rather just helped me pick the parts out (kinda) so I was SOL. I planned to use the Yosemite side as my audio/video workstation with Pro Tools 11 and Logic Pro X as well as Final Cut in the future. I also planned to use Windows 7 as the regular gaming/other duties side. Anyways, I installed with Clover at first, then UniBeast, then started all over again with Clover. The biggest issue with the Yosemite install was with the graphics card drivers. I had to figure out some way to boot the OS without having to type in the nvda_drv=1 boot flag every single time. I did it, but I don't know how. I wish I remembered LOL. It's probably because no one wants to remember the late nights trying to get their hackintosh to work.

The second biggest concern I had was the fact that I had a Clarett 8Pre which is a thunderbolt interface so I was worried about compatibility issues with the Z97 Extreme6 and Yosemite. I picked out the ASRock add on thunderbolt card and prayed that everything would just work for me. Of course nothing works that way. I had to install windows 7 and download all the Thunderbolt drivers first so that the interface could be recognized by the Z97 Extreme6, Windows, and Yosemite. I at first put the Thunderbolt card into the PCIe4 lane but it wasn't recognizing no matter how many settings I tried and the drivers I downloaded. But I then I put it into the PCIe5 lane and it works!! I had to go to the UEFI settings and then enable it again but it does work and recognize the Clarett! The only thing is you have to boot Windows 7 first with the interface on and then boot into Yosemite and you're golden. Just make sure you download drivers.

Pro Tools 11 runs amazing on Yosemite and I checked the CPU usage it's barely even touching it right now with a million plug ins running! I'm so glad I did this and if anyone else is looking to do this build I highly recommend it. I only spent about $1100 on this build and the performance is amazing for what I'm using it for.

If you have any questions please let me know! I know I'm forgetting stuff but this is just the jist of what I did.

Hello,
could you provide me with a list of your bios settings and your clover config list ? I have nearly the same system (cpu and mainboard) but I'm unable to make it work for me.
Could you please help me?

Hey man were you able to get this up and running? Sorry I just saw this I haven't been on in a while.

Hello, no until now I was unable to get my system running. Mainly because I haven't got any time to make it happen :( ... So no problem, that it take you some time to answer :D
Maybe sometime next week, and then I will dedicate a Day, or more to my build and try some things to make it possible... but I hope I will be able to ask you some questions in the future. Did you use any "special" settings in the Bios or in Clover ?

Hello again,
I just want to tell that my system is now up and running.
At first I have no issues, but I was unable to boot without a usb stick. But thanks to this guide I'm now able to do this. And even audio is now working for me. Hope this can help some one. And thank you OP.
