Comments:
Before you begin

- If you have greater than 4gb of RAM, remove the extra RAM for a maximum of 4gb. You can put back any extra RAM in after the installation process.
- Use only 1 graphics card in the 1st PCIe slot with 1 monitor plugged in. In my case, I removed my second HD 5770 graphics card.
- Remove any hard drives besides the blank drive being used for OS X.
- Remove any USB peripherals besides keyboard and mouse.
- Remove any PCI cards besides graphics- they may not be Mac compatible.
- It's best to use an empty hard drive- you will have to partition and format the drive.

Always back up any of your important data.

STEP 1: BIOS settings

Configure your ASUS BIOS as follow:

Main - Storage Configuration - Configure SATA as [AHCI]
Hard disk write protect [Disabled]
IDE Detect Time Out (Sec) 0

Ai Tweaker
Intel(R) Speedstep Tech [Disabled]

Advanced
CPU Configuration
C1E Support [Disabled]
Intel(R) Virtualization Tech [Enabled]
Intel(R) HT Technology [Enabled]
A20M [Disabled]
Intel(R) Speedstep Tech [Disabled]
Intel(R) C-STATE Tech [Enabled]

Onboard Devices Configuration
Lan boot rom [Disabled]
Marvell Storage Controller [AHCI Mode]
Onboard USB 3.0 Controller [Enabled]

Intel VT-d [Enabled]
T-Probe [Enabled]

Power
Suspend mode [S3 only] This setting will prevent you from AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement errors ;)

Boot tab
Boot device priority:
1. OS X drive (Western Digital WD1001FALS in my case)
2. CDROM (DVD-drive)
3. Removable dev.

STEP 2: Install Mac OS X

First of all: use only a legally bought Mac OS X Snow Leopard Retail DVD!

So, let's start the OS X installation...

- Put the iBoot-ATI-5xxx-3 in your drive (because the latest iBoot 3.8 won't work for 10.6.3).
- Power on your pc. Boot the iBoot dvd.
- Eject the iBoot dvd and insert the Mac OS X install DVD
- Press F5 and Enter. After a while you see the apple logo.
- After a while you can select the installation language. I choose English for this tutorial. After you have chosen your preferred language, press the next button.

- Then you should format your hard disk. Go to utilities - Disk Utility and format your drive to Mac OS (Extended). The name of my drive is 'Mac OS X'.

- Now we want to continue the installation. Choose continue and agree the software license agreement. Select your drive and disable all additional features using the customize button. Then choose Install. The installation may take around 20 minutes.

- When the installation is done, boot OS X using iBoot. After bootup you should configure your keyboard using a wizard.

- Download MultiBeast from the Tonymacx86 downloads page. I have had directly internet, because I am using a Powerline-adapter. If you haven't, you should download MultiBeast from another pc ;).

- Open MultiBeast and leave it open
- Download the 10.6.8 Combo Update from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
- Install the 10.6.8 Combo Update DON'T REBOOT!
- For using a HD 5770 with 10.6.8, install this patch: http://macprovideocards.com/new-version-of-10-6-8-patch/. This patch will prevent kernel panic's.

Configure MultiBeast

- Maximize the MultiBeast window
- Choose the following options:

- EasyBeast
- System Utilities
- Rebuild Caches
- Repair Permissions
- Drivers & bootloaders
- Kexts & enablers
- Audio
- Universal
-VoodooHDA
- VoodooHDA 0.2.56 (0.2.72 causes sound crackles, thanks to fdandy006 for reporting that  )
- Disk
- IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector
- JMicron 36x (AKA GSATA)
- Miscellaneous
- Choose every option
- Network
- Lnx2Mac's Realtek RTL8xx Ethernet
- Customization
- Boot options
- 32-bit Apple Boot Screen (I am running 64-bit Apple Boot Screen. I don't advice that in this guide because MultiBeast recommended using with a patched dsdt. I don't have one, lucky I think .
- Generate CPU states
- OSx86 Software
- Kext Helper b7
- Kext Utility
- MSR Tools
- ShowAllFiles

After that, select next and install.

To enable sleep, you can install a SleepEnabler from here http://www.kexts.com/view/1441-sleepenabler_10.6.8.html
Use at your own risk, I haven't used it, cause I don't use sleep ;).

So, now you are able to boot and use OS X without any problem!

Your second HD 5770 card

Now you want to use your second card too, of course. To use OS X with your second card connected, you should do the following:

- download the kexts of OS X Lion from here: http://www.multiupload.com/HCJPQKXPLJ, or download them from the attachment you can find by this guide.
- pick the following kexts and paste them temporairy on the desktop:
ATI5000Controller.kext
ATIFramebuffer.kext
ATISupport.kext
- Open Kext Helper b7 and paste the kexts in the window.
- Type your password and choose EASY install.
- After installation, shut down your pc.
- Put the second 5770 card back in your pc case and connect the crossfire-cable.
- Power on, and your Hackintosh is fully working.

UPDATE: Update to Mac OS X Lion

Today I will explain you how to update to OS X Lion. I have used the xMove + MultiBeast method and it works perfectly. Here is explained again what to do to get Lion working on your mackintosh:

- Purchase OS X Lion from the Mac App Store
- Boot into your existing Snow Leopard installation.
- Download the OS X Lion App directly from the Mac App Store - it will automatically open.
- Click Continue.
- Target your currently booted Snow Leopard drive and hit Install. This will not install the OS or affect this drive in any way. It will simply install the files necessary to do so later in the process.
- Click Restart to reboot.

Prepare the Installer Partition

- Boot back into your existing Snow Leopard installation.
- Open /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
- Highlight your Snow Leopard drive in left column.
- Choose the Partition tab, and Click the + to Add a Partition.
- Name the secondary partition Installer with a size of 8 GB and click Apply.
- Click Partition.
- Close Disk Utility

xMove

- Download xMove from the downloads-page.
- Double-Click xMove, and choose Installer as Destination.
WARNING: DO NOT choose existing Snow Leopard as the Destination.

Do not interrupt the process- it will only take a few minutes. When done, you'll have a secondary partition on your drive containing the OS X Lion Installer!

Boot Installer & Install OS X Lion

- Reboot- at the Chimera boot screen, choose Installer
- It will boot directly to a familiar Mac OS X Installer complete with Disk Utility.
- Install OS X Lion over existing Snow Leopard or onto any empty drive or partition.

If you've followed my whole tutorial, you're done! Optionally, you can now use Disk Utility to delete the Installer partition.

ENJOY!

PS: Please fill in my poll after completing your hackintosh :)

Re: [SUCCESS] ASUS P7P55D-E PRO, i7 860, Sapphire HD 5770 CF

Just Installed the patch. now i get kernal panic. system wont boot at all

Re: [SUCCESS] ASUS P7P55D-E PRO, i7 860, Sapphire HD 5770 CF

Do you have installed the 10.6.8 combo update before installing the patch? If you did that, please type -v at the boot screen. Can you tell me which text you see before the KP?

Re: [SUCCESS] ASUS P7P55D-E PRO, i7 860, Sapphire HD 5770 CF

I have had success - but not straight away.

I was doing a straight upgrade from 10.6.7 not a full build.

My mistake was leaving out the multibeast step and so got kernel panic when I rebooted.

However - easy fixed by using iboot to get back into my system, run Multibeast 3.8 and installed easybeast only.

Now back up and running without a hitch.

Thanks

Re: [SUCCESS] ASUS P7P55D-E PRO, i7 860, Sapphire HD 5770 CF

awesome! Have fun with it. Today I have upgraded to OS X 10.7 Lion using the xMove + MultiBeast method (http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/07/ ... -lion.html). I configured MultiBeast as shown in the first post. OS X Lion is running fine :). I had only issues using MacFuse and NTFS-3G: my NTFS-volumes won't mount :x . I hope I can fix that as soon as possible...

edit: OS X Lion is 64-bit only. NTFS-3G won't work on that ;).

Hey nfsgamer,

I've finally got Lion working from your instructions above (but had to start clean).

Did you get qe/ci working? I've tried the old add widget test to see if there a wobbles but I dont get them?.
Other than that - I have most things working that I have tested so far.

**as the dashboard is a space it turns off ripple. going into mission control and turning off dashboard as space allows ripple test. so qe/ci is working. :)

Yep - all working here too, using the above guide.

I had to reinstall after earlier trying to install Lion using the xmove method, which hosed my SL install. It must have been some particular quirk with my SL setup.

Anyway, thanks for the great guide!

ps I have my NTFS drives mounted and visible out-of-the-box, but no write access (time to edit /etc/fstab).

*UPDATE* Lion mounts NTFS drives quite differently from Snow Leopard - simply adding the UUID with rw option to fstab didn't work. I had to use Paragon 9.0 NTFS-Mac to get write access. There may be other methods, but this was the quickest.

Some of the wrinkles I have found with my install.

I have the P7P55D version of the motherboard and find the Voodoo 2.56 works better for me. I get crackles if I use 2.72.

Also - Initially when I install Lnx2Macs Realtek kext my network didn't work so I used the 2.06 kext. I get network working, however - some boots into lion give me no network and I need a reboot.

Oddly enough - every now and then, my other drives dont mount until after 1-2mins... strange.

Will keep playing...

When using VoodooHDA 2.72 I got crackles too. Now I have installed VoodooHDA 2.56 and my music sounds fine :).

Btw, I didn't have had network after installing Lion, but after a reboot it works fine as you said.

About mounting your hard drives: do you mean mounting using MacFuse and NTFS 3G? NTFS-3G doesn't support the 64-bit kernel of Lion. That's why the program won't mount your hdd and gives an error message ;).

Mounting with native NTFS read-only should work without problems...

i basically have the same setup as yours but when it comes on to booting the installer am getting the fintex error Found unsupported chip ID=0xc3 REVISION=0x33. do you know of anyway to get around that i tried everything i know the funniest thing is snow leopard the latest version works fine on it. cant figure why i cant get pass that error at all .your advice would be highly appreciated
