Comments

I built this system some time ago and decided to rebuild and document the install for Mavericks 10.9
Previous Build : http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-builds/109948-success-p-lgrims-8ball-build-z77-ds3h-rev-1-0-f9-i5-2500k-hd6850-16gb-ml-10-8-5-a.html

This is an extremely straightforward build and it should be possible for even someone with no prior knowledge of Hackintoshes to complete with relative ease. There are no changes to the BIOS (after the initial one), no cable or graphics card swaps, no DSDT and no boot flags - Probably one of the easiest Hackintosh builds you will ever see.

It should be noted that there are two versions of this system board at the time of writing - This document relates to the Revision 1.0 version only.

Preparation
Download Unibeast and Multibeast from here : tonymacx86.com Software Downloads

Create your USB flash drive as per the instructions : UniBeast: Install OS X Mavericks on Any Supported Intel-based PC

Copy MultiBeast to your USB flash drive.

When the bootloader screen appears click on the image for your USB Flash Drive

68153-apple.png
Your screen should change to look similar to this

68152-blank-screen.png
After a short wait your screen should change to this

Continue waiting and the screen will change again

68150-language.jpg
You should now see the Welcome screen

Follow the prompts to set up the new Operating System.

The system will restart.

As the system starts up Press [F12] to select the boot menu
Select your USB flash drive and press [Enter]
Select Your Hackintosh Hard Drive with the arrow keys and then Press [Enter]

Follow the prompts until you reach the desktop.

MultiBeast
Double Click your USB flash drive icon to open it
Open the Multibeast folder

Benchmarks

74558-geekbench.png

49534-fireboard-800.png

Unibrain Fireboard 800 (Firewire Card)
Quite an old card I picked up on eBay.

No configuration required - Just plug it in and it works

Creative Xmod USB sound card
I bought a Creative Xmod sound card cheaply on ebay and it works well.
I particularly like having the rotary volume control knob.
I disabled the onboard Realtek sound card in the BIOS and now just use the Xmod.

69605-xmod.png

49515-pctv.png

Pinnacle PCTV NanoStick Ultimate (PC/MAC)
Not currently available on Amazon but there are plenty around elsewhere - Works great on Mac and PC

Requires installation of software supplied with package - Eye TV Lite.

53468-c510.png

Logitech 720p Webcam C510 : Amazon-UK

No configuration required - Just plug it in and it works

49513-hot-plug.png

StarTech 5.25in Trayless Hot Swap Mobile Rack for 3.5in Hard Drive : Amazon-UK

The end to multi boot problems - Just pop out the drive with one Operating System on it and insert another drive with another Operating System and all without having to open the case. Makes backing up a breeze too - Just pop in another drive and clone yours to it. I have three of these in my system.

49517-icydock.png

Cremax ICY DOCK MB882SP-1S-1B 2.5 inch to 3.5 inch SSD and SATA HDD Converter - Black : Amazon-UK

With one of these you can drop a 2.5" laptop hard drive into your system or mount an SSD. Great for use with the racks above.
No configuration required - Just plug it in and it works.

74755-dvd.png

DVD Drive
Optiarc DVD RW AD-5280S : Amazon-UK
No configuration required - Just plug it in and it works.

74411-c4103a-infra-red-module.png

Infra Red Receiver
Modded a HP C4103A Infra red module and a IR board from a MacBook Pro as per : Apple IR Project (1/11)
No configuration required - Just plug it in and it works.

74415-apple-remote.png

Apple Remote
For use with my IR Receiver mod above.
No configuration required.

Belkin F5D5055 Gigabit USB 2.0 Network Adaptor : Amazon-UK
Tried one of these USB to Ethernet adaptors and it worked right out of the box.
I won't use it all of the time but it's handy to have in the locker as a standby.
No configuration required - Just plug it in and it works.

78629-belkin-hub.png

Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and FireWire 6-Port Hub
No configuration required - Just plug it in and it works. (Obviously you will need a Firewire card to connect to)

I saw some posts recommending the HP NC360T Ethernet cards so I thought I'd try them.
83124-hp-nc360t.png
Disabled the on-board LAN card in the BIOS and removed the AtherosL1cEthernet (1.2.3) kext - The card works natively with the AppleIntel8254XEthernet.kext and so far so good.

Changed Network kext to AppleIntelE1000e V3.1.0 from Multibeast 6.4.2 - All of my builds now use the same Network driver.

85700-kvm.png
Added a Trendnet TK-214i KVM Switch Unit to share my Keyboard-Monitor-Mouse between builds.

This worked for me! I did install ALC 887/887b Current V100302 for my external speaker support.

I have your motherboard but I am running into an issue. When I load up maverick installer the screen goes black for a few sec, it flashes the apple loading screen briefly and then resets. I have tried all the boot commands and nothing works. I also have mountain lion installer on thumb drive in separate partition and that one boots up fine with no issues to installer.

Anything to try?

This thread is for a build with specific hardware, if you don't have the same hardware then you would probably get a better response by posting in a different section - Maybe Desktop Support.

As I don't have the same hardware as you, I can't really answer your question - Sorry.

Having said that, you could try PCIRootUID=0

Good luck with your build.

This might help:
No matter what I did, I couldn't get the system to boot using the built-in HD4000 graphics and it would freeze part way through the boot process.
So I disabled the built-in graphics in bios settings and used an Nvidia GS240 card instead, which booted perfectly when GraphicsEnabler=Yes was used as a boot option (and then added that in Multibeast).
I don't care about solving the HD4000 problem as that graphics card is lousy anyway and now everything works fine.
