My latest build was on the following hardware:

MoBo: GA-Z270X-Ultra Gaming
CPU: Intel i7 7700K
Graphics :Intel HD 630 and later Sapphire Radeon 5450 -2GB
RAM :CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz

  • I used Kootion 16GB flash drive erased in disk utility for the High Sierra USB installer.
  • High Sierra Installer was created using CreateInstallMedia Terminal cmd in my Hackintosh running Sierra 10.12.6 using downloaded macOS High Sierra 10.13. from Apple Store.
  • I installed Clover EFI r 4318 on the USB Installer disk after the cmd was completed.
  • I checked the contents of EFI /EFI/CLOVER to make sure , they are all OK.
    • The numbered kexts folders were sent to trash keeping only "Other" with all the needed kexts including the ones needed for Intel HD 630 (IntelGraphicsFixup.kext and Lilu both the latest, Radeon 5450 and possibly for Nvidia)
      1.CLOVER:kexts:Other.png
    • Made sure drivers64UEFI contents were OK
      2.CLOVER:drivers64UEFI.png
  • Checked config.plist and through all the sections were edited to make the Installer disk boot without a lot of troubleshoot. [See images of CLOVER/kexts ...Other /drivers64UEFI (above) and config.plist menus.]

  • Connected only a Single Seagate SATA Spin disk to SATA port 0 and disconnected the drives for Windows 10 and Linux. from their ports.
  • On Powering up , entered BIOS and made changes to BIOS options (See images)

  • Checked System Report>>> and Hardware>Overview and all submenu like Audio/Ethernet Cards/Graphics and Displays/USB etc to make sure everything is working OK.
Any chance I can get a copy of your KEXTS folder? I'm having a heck of a time finding the same kext files that you listed... Completely following your steps and rebuilding this same MoBo as you did.

I'm having a hell of a time with same mobo etc.
Can't even get the installer to boot. Used Unibeast to create it OK.. but i'm guessing i'm missing heaps of the Other kexts files.
The installer does this for me....

So what kext files and/or multi-beast options are needed to enable the USB 3/USB 3.1 ports on the Z270X Ultra Gaming board? I just plugged in a few USB 3.0 thumb drives and none of them seem to be working. Tried in a Windows laptop, and they work fine. Assuming I'm missing something in my build which is otherwise perfect. Thanks in advance!

So I have a Problem with the installation .

After the third reboot I see only the Apple Logo and my mouse .
I can move the mouse .

But the progress bar under the logo is empty . Also after 10 minutes .
When I look at the HDD light , it flashes in a normal way .

Anybody a idea ?

  • Please start your own new thread; I will try to help provided you can give in your post
    • The stage of your installation
    • The BIOS choices you have made as a list or
      • better still as images [as I have posted in my thread]
    • CLOVER folder from the disk having booting problem as a compressed file and
    • Verbose boot screens to show where you get stuck;
  • You have posted (along with a few others) to my [Closed] Thread showing illustrated steps with the set of hardware (Intel Kaby Lake) I have used.
    • Its purpose was merely to help those who are using the same hardware or specification similar to that to create a clean installation of macOS High Sierra by letting them read the steps I used and the images to help them orient themselves to various stages of installation.
    • It was never meant as a discussion thread.
  • I have stopped monitoring this thread since others have used it to discuss questions on disparate hardware.
