Success - macOS 10.14 on ThinkPad T480s

Definitely leave SSDTs that don't need patching out of ACPI/patched. Putting them there is just more to make mistakes with.

Hey man thanks for the suggestion, you're absolutely right... I've updated my guide to adopt the "partial hotpatching" configuration.
 
how's the battery life? performance? any benchmarks? Did you get NVME power management working? I was under the impression that NVME power management wasn't working in high Sierra, did this change in Mojave? thanks

I don't know of a way to verify if NVME PM is working, but I did make some overall batt/perf measurements for those curious.

Benchmarking the T480s is especially interesting because the EC somehow sets higher power & temp limits in Windows than in Linux:

While ACPI/dsl/SSDT-XOSI.dsl emulates "Windows 2015", I'm not sure what the actual power/temp limits under macOS are.


For tests below, my CPU/iGPU (i5-8250U) was undervolted by -90mV/-80mV.
In Linux & Windows, I have PL1/PL2 set to 44W, and trip temp at 95C.


(AC mode) Performance - Geekbench 4:
macOS:

Windows 10 (power profile = "Max Performance"):

Idle power consumption (max brightness, WiFi connected, discharge rate after system sits idle for 3 minutes):
macOS:
7.6W
Linux (with TLP):
5.0W
Windows (power profile = "Better Battery"):
6.0W

I measured idle because that best shows the efficiency of OS-level power management. Max brightness because it's otherwise hard to reach the same brightness across OSes. Based on my measurement under Linux, 30% brightness is about 2W lower power consumption than max.
 
I Hackintosh successful. but my power management doesn't work well .I can't see any battery percentage.could you please give me some advice?? here is my hardware info.

Just finished my Hackintosh installation on a ThinkPad T480s. There seems to be few guides or reports for ThinkPad T480s/T480/X1C6, so I've compiled my notes and configuration files into a repo:

Most features (that I care about) are now working properly (details at https://github.com/kk1987/T480s-hackintosh/#status). The biggest annoyance remaining is the lack of scrolling support, but that can be worked around with an external mouse.

I hope this repo could be helpful to someone else trying to install hackintosh on their ThinkPad. Note though it's just meant to be a reference for someone already familiar with different sorts of guides available on this forum, instead of a step-by-step guide, or a set of config files ready for using on any T480s.

I see that you couldn't run the native resolution of your screen, why is that? would be a bit sad to have a WQHD screen without being able to run it on native res...

Also, as far as I understand Mojave 10.14.1 supports NVMe natively. is there an option to install this version instead of 10.14 ?

Native resolution definitely works. Not sure why you would think otherwise.

You might want to run https://github.com/xzhih/one-key-hidpi though as it enables more HiDPI resolutions. For example, text size is a bit too small at 1920x1080. For a FHD screen, the only practical HiDPI resolution available is 1280x720, which results in a text size that is too large. The one-key-hidpi script adds 1680x945 and 1440x810 which are much more useful resolutions for a 14' screen size.

10.14.1 should install and work just the same, but I haven't tried.

update - I've upgraded my P52s setup to 10.14.1 with no problems. The only thing that needs noting is to inject an invalid ig-platform-id for the updater to boot. (I used the configuration at https://github.com/kk1987/P52s-hackintosh which is slightly modified off my T480s repo. So in theory the T480s repo should work in 10.14.1 as well.)
