Comments

I haven't tried the Cinema Display on the XFX 6870 mini-display port yet but from what I've read so far, it seems to work with the new MBP ATI Drivers. I'll post an update when I receive the monitor in the mail. I'm currently using 2 x 24" Dell monitors on DVI.

Installation:
Overall the install process went very smoothly, this was my first custom mac build so I was a little nervous but thanks to...

tonymacx86's guide - http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/04/iboot-multibeast-install-mac-os-x-on.html
notshy's guide - http://www.tonymacx86.com/viewtopic.php?f=81&t=11465&start=0

...it was easy and successful!

Issues:
The Radeon 68XX series is still being ironed out in the custom mac community. The card runs smoothly with the new ATI MBP Drivers and with 64bit GraphicsEnabler=No in Multibeast.

Also, rarely I get a grey screen of death when powering on the computer with 2 monitors connected. o_O

All in all, AMAZING!!! peed my pants full of fun.

Sweet and grats!!!!
I have same mobo and CPU, I do have a 6870 but it's a sapphire. I also have a 24" Apple display. My instal should be in several days because I am custom fitting a G5 case, so as soon as I am done there I will do my install.

Looking forward for your report on the 27" mini-display port connection!

Again congratulations!

Is there a special reason, why you took the HD-687A-ZNFC instead of the HD-687A-ZNBC, HD-687A-ZDBC or HD-687A-ZDFC?

No specific reason, it was simply the version that was available to me locally. No complaints so far.

points in cinebech?

thanks

Which guide did u use as main guide? notshy's? What was the difference to your setup?

@jpa: will you update ur guide if your new 6870 is working fine?

6870 works fine

1. Start with iBoot & install MacOsx10.6.3
2. Upd 10.6.7
3. MultiBeast (check repair permissions and chache)
check: ATI drivers, Chamelion Boot 32 bit GE=No
4. restart from hdd & repair permissions in macosX
5. install this fix from Andy (InsanelyMac) http://www.mediafire.com/?r52bv1otbovc9ci
6. restart, GE should be YES, and now you can try to boot in 64bit (arch=x86_64).

Thx

atm i'm looking for a guide, which is as close to my system as possible. since it's my first hackintosh i'm a lil bit afraid. Do you think I can use yours with the difference of the GPU-Enabling?! I can try it, when my hardware arrives, but don't know, when it will be ;)

By the weekend maybe?? ;)

That's when I will be doing my full install. All parts will be here and I will be good to go. Between your guide and Notshy's guide and of course Tonymac's I am hoping for a bullet proof install! Fingers crossed!
