Comments

This is my 4th hackintosh build and I wanted to upgrade my current setup which was/is running super stable since 5 years but I needed more power and an upgrade to the latest OS. I mainly use it as DAW with Cubase.
This time I decided to go with the Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7 because of the Thunderbolt connector and the very good reviews of the board.

This build is also very silent, I overclocked to 4,8 GHz with this guide
but didn't delid the CPU.

Installation Notes

I followed the installation guide from tonymacx86 and https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...wi-fi-ac-build-w-i7-8700k-amd-vega-56.239969/

BIOS Settings:

1 Save & Exit → Load Optimized Defaults
2 M.I.T. → Advanced Memory Settings Extreme Memory Profile(X.M.P.) : Profile1
3 BIOS → Fast Boot : Disabled
4 BIOS → LAN PXE Boot Option ROM : Disabled
5 BIOS → Storage Boot Option Control : UEFI
6 Peripherals → Trusted Computing → Security Device Support : Disable
7 Peripherals → Network Stack Configuration → Network Stack : Disabled
8 Peripherals → USB Configuration → Legacy USB Support : Auto
9 Peripherals → USB Configuration → XHCI Hand-off : Enabled
10 Chipset → Vt-d : Disabled
11 Chipset → Wake on LAN Enable : Disabled
12 Chipset → IOAPIC 24-119 Entries : Enabled
13 Peripherals → Initial Display Output : PCIe 1 Slot
14 Chipset → Integrated Graphics : Disabled

Installation went smooth.

Had to boot with the Nvidia boot flag in Clover boot loader to get into the macOS installation screen and followed the tonymacx86 guide to install High Sierra.

Post Installation

I used MultiBeast and the Clover Configurator. Installed the Nividia web driver.

Whats working

Everything except Thunderbolt (TB) because I don't have the TB-card yet, iMessage, HDMI/Displayport audio, USB3, Avid Artist Mix ...

What the story with your usb3 ports, are they working and if so how did you enable them. I'm considering a build with this Motherboard and am looking for a pre-made Custom SSDT for USBInjectAll.kext. ANyone have one to share?

I used MultiMeast and installed the USB kexts "7/8/9 Series USB Support" and "increase Max Port Limit 200 Series". I don't have any custom SSDT.
All of the USB ports are working.
I noticed that, when I play music and connect an USB drive, I have an audio dropout. Don't know why...

It's my understanding that a Custom SSDT for USBInjectAll.kext is the only way to have long term reliable USB3 on OSX 10.13.X. You really should look into it. That motherboard is pretty popular, so somebody has likely already created a custom SSDT for it. Good Luck.

The same build for me, except GTX1070ti which gives 155000 scores in Geekbench, 20% slower...

I couldn't find any SSDTs for the Gaming 7 mobo, if someone does have a link for me i'll give it a go!

Front USB 3 plugs sometimes won't recognize any USB stick, Front USB 2 always works. the strange thing is if the USB 3 plugs wont see any USB device itunes sees my connected iphone.
