Comments
Hi everyone, want to share my first build i did in April.
- High Sierra 10.13.4, upgraded from 10.13.3 via AppStore.
- CPU overclocked to 4.8Ghz.
- OSX UI works super smooth after recent upgrade to 387.10.10.10.30.106 Nvidia Web Drivers (GTX 1070ti).
- All the components are very quite, bearly audible.
- Ordered Broadcom BCM94360CD 802.11ac mini pci-e Wi-Fi WLAN Bluetooth 4.0 and mini pci to pci adapter for Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I got USB bluetooth adapter from Upgreen and it works! Just for 7 USD.
My PCI Bluetooth adapter with Broadcom chipset costed me 40 USD and still is not tested.
- I use Samsung EVO 512 SSD for OSX, Intel 760p 512 M.2 NVMe as video editing drive, HDD for Windows 10.
- iGPU HD630 is enabled in BIOS, but is configured to "headless" mode (not visible in About This Mac system report)
- Chrome browser had some lags. I use these settings to make it work like charm:
a) Hardware acceleration - on
b) chrome://flags/
Summary
What works:
- GPU
- USB 3.0/2.0/type-C
- LAN
- External audio Scarlett 2i4 via USB 3.0
- App Store
- iTunes
- Sleep/wake
- Bluetooth
- WiFi
What does't work:
-
Concerns:
1. [Solved] The Frequency is always on top, even when CPU utilization is very low.
However everything works very very good.
** Reseted the manual overclocking setting in BIOS and set up automatic Overclock to @4.8Ghz. Frequency parameter is now ok.
2. [Solved] When enabling iGPU to be visible in the system (ig-platform-id = 0x59120000) FCPx renders transitions with a lot of bugs. So, i turn iGPU to "headless" mode (ig-platform-id = 0x59120003) then everything renders without bugs.
Turned iGPU off, because GTX1070 fans turn on every 20 seconds and that is annoying.
Not tested:
- iMessage
- Integrated audio.
Benchmarks
1. Bruce test ~ 50 seconds and that is very slow.
2. Geekbench test (Overclocked @4.8):
- Single-core - 6360
- Multi-core - 30217
- GPU (OpenCL) - 164402
3. SpeedTest
Samsung EVO 860 Read - 529 MB/s
Intel 760p M.2 Read - 2795 MB/s
Clover configuration
BIOS configuration
