Comments

Hi everyone, want to share my first build i did in April.
- High Sierra 10.13.4, upgraded from 10.13.3 via AppStore.
- CPU overclocked to 4.8Ghz.
- OSX UI works super smooth after recent upgrade to 387.10.10.10.30.106 Nvidia Web Drivers (GTX 1070ti).
- All the components are very quite, bearly audible.
- Ordered Broadcom BCM94360CD 802.11ac mini pci-e Wi-Fi WLAN Bluetooth 4.0 and mini pci to pci adapter for Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
I got USB bluetooth adapter from Upgreen and it works! Just for 7 USD.
My PCI Bluetooth adapter with Broadcom chipset costed me 40 USD and still is not tested.
- I use Samsung EVO 512 SSD for OSX, Intel 760p 512 M.2 NVMe as video editing drive, HDD for Windows 10.
- iGPU HD630 is enabled in BIOS, but is configured to "headless" mode (not visible in About This Mac system report)
- Chrome browser had some lags. I use these settings to make it work like charm:
a) Hardware acceleration - on
b) chrome://flags/

Summary

20180428_192556.jpg

What works:
- GPU
- USB 3.0/2.0/type-C
- LAN
- External audio Scarlett 2i4 via USB 3.0
- App Store
- iTunes
- Sleep/wake
- Bluetooth
- WiFi

What does't work:
-

Concerns:
1. [Solved] The Frequency is always on top, even when CPU utilization is very low.
However everything works very very good.
** Reseted the manual overclocking setting in BIOS and set up automatic Overclock to @4.8Ghz. Frequency parameter is now ok.

2. [Solved] When enabling iGPU to be visible in the system (ig-platform-id = 0x59120000) FCPx renders transitions with a lot of bugs. So, i turn iGPU to "headless" mode (ig-platform-id = 0x59120003) then everything renders without bugs.
Turned iGPU off, because GTX1070 fans turn on every 20 seconds and that is annoying.

Not tested:
- iMessage
- Integrated audio.

Benchmarks

1. Bruce test ~ 50 seconds and that is very slow.
2. Geekbench test (Overclocked @4.8):
- Single-core - 6360
- Multi-core - 30217
- GPU (OpenCL) - 164402
3. SpeedTest
Samsung EVO 860 Read - 529 MB/s
Intel 760p M.2 Read - 2795 MB/s

Thanks for your great write up.... I'm just about to do get the macOS going on my new and similar hardware.

I've booted it several days ago on my old HS 10.13.4 build that I was using on my Z77 Mobo (it booted fine!), but I will love to get it going properly with the right config.plist, power management etc. I've been concentrating on setting up W10Pro firstly, but

I'm itching to go back to the macOS and Apple ECO system!

Have you worked out your CPU power management issues yet? I'll do a write up in this forum when I get it going well.

Reseted the manual overclocking setting in BIOS and set up automatic Overclock to @4.8Ghz.
Hi, what you do mean ''Reseted the manual overclocking setting in BIOS and set up automatic Overclock to @4.8Ghz.''?
So, how its automatic but @4.8GHz? The automatic should be @4.7GHz.
Please give more details on that because I have also high CPU frequency on idle with my 8700K, I cannot solve it no matter what I do. Thanks.

EDIT: Nevermind I found it but still not fix the problem

Thanks for sharing your clover settings. I'll try to make the same build (maybe different graphics card 1070TI / 1080? & a water cooled cpu) soon.

Which BIOS version are you running on your Gaming 7?

Burukhtan, Thanks for the detailed guide. I was wondering what if anything you have in your efi folder efi/clover/ACPI/Patched ? I'm assuming you didn't create a DDST patch for the USB3 ports on that MOBO.
Starting a very similar build later this week and am going to follow your lead for the most part.

Thanks
