it worked. but.. HDDs are not detecting in any of the USB 3.0 Ports. USB 2.0 is fine. keyboard & Mouse is fine in both USB 3.0 & 2.0 Ports. how can i clear this issue? please help

I ordered Samsung 960 EVO NVMe just to realize after installing everything that this motherboard runs its m.2 at x2/x1 speeds and so the 960 evo won't perform to its potential. I kept getting around 700MB/S for reads which is far from its advertised speeds.

I followed kgp's guide and generated ssdt to get full speed stepping for the CPU and although it worked, Sierra was kind of sluggish and I kept getting low geekbench scores. When I followed your guide everything works perfectly and Sierra is running smoothly.

I have a very smooth working system but I also want the speeds of Samsung 960 EVO NVMe. So I have two options

1. Return the Samsung 960 EVO NVMe and keep my currently stable system.
2. Buy a new motherboard that supports faster speeds for m.2 NVMe and risk going through the hassle of setting up everything again. I just wish that my current NVMe installation would work immediately without any changes if I switch to another motherbaord.

What do you mean by sluggish and Sierra not running smoothly? Your 24.000 GB scores vs. your 22.000? Not sure that you configured everything properly and you did not even play with OC...

By the way, I have no relation with the KGB, I write myself KGP

BTW. I've noticed that all my USB 3.0 ports are outputting low voltage compare to my previous mobo z87x. Previously I could feed ie. phone with 800-900 mA and right now I'm getting only 300 mA. Any thoughts how to resolve this ? Thanks !

Sorry I do not know the answer to this. Try installing windows on your system and see if your getting full voltage. Otherwise could be hardware issue or bios

I am sorry your having problems with this. You may need new mobo. Personally I havent gotten into NVMe drives I am still using standard ssd and hdd so I cannot be of help.

not sure why that is. are you using the x99 ud4 motherboard?

what motherboard are you using?

Did you install the usb max port limit patch from multibeast?

not sure if you already made a decision, but the way I am doing it, is with a simple PCI-e adapter, https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=12K-017B-00001.
and to make it work as a boot drive, first install on a normal SSD, then follow ReHabMan's patch nvme (Google this and you should find a github repo with files and instructions.) to make a patched kext. Replace the vanilla IONVMEFamily.kext with the patched one. (There's a method with class-code spoofing that I find cumbersome so I didn't do that). After installing the patched kext and restart you should see your NVMe drive. Now use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone the SSD to the NVMe drive, install clover and copy your SSD EFI stuff over to the newly created NVMe EFI partition with clover installed and reboot. You should be good to go after that! Hope this helped. My 950 pro and Intel 600p worked like charms.
