Hi

Did you just upgrade through the app store? I used your guide and a few others when I made my dual boot setup (Mavericks & Win8). Everything is working well but I'm a bit apprehensive in case I muck it all up being a newbie to this it's unknown territory. If going through the appstore is the easier way for me I definitely want to do that and I'd obviously prefer not to have to reinstall all my apps etc.

Thanks,

Yes i upgraded through the app store using the guide tonymacx86 provides on here, resetting the all the permissions before and after the update, now running Yosemite 10.10.1, no crashes or freezes. iMessage doesn't work anymore but this, i think is an unsolvable issue as apple have tightened their security (something to do with serial codes, i don't know, it's technical).

in order to get a fully booting, fully operational hackintosh, when using the mac pro definitions you have to delete the "AppleTyMCEDriver.kext" from S/L/E after every update, as i think this kext is the moderator for ECC ram modules, and as in my case i'm not using ECC ram, it caused system errors and kernel panics on boot and freezes in safe mode. chances are after rebooting from an update, you'll have to boot in safemode (-x on chimera boot screen) and delete the kext in safemode, then your system should work properly again :thumbup:

  • [*=center]UPDATE
Recently upgraded my ram to 16GB of 1600mhz Corsair stuff, and also swapped out my 1TB HDD for a 250GB one (the 1TB self corrupted but I managed to save everything with CarbonCopyCloner).

Got to the point of having a really stable build with sleep, bluetooth and all that working, so I thought I'd run some bench tests on Cinebench and Geekbench 3

Cinebench: OpenGL scored highly with a median score of 88FPS because my GPU is rad, however my CPU just doesn't compare to a Xeon for rendering.

Geekbench 3: meh, just moderately average, i'm guessing by comparisons. (32-bit and 64-bit, respectively)
