Hi.

Yesterday I finally sat down and tried to install Yosemite on my machine. Unfortunately none of the guides already posted here worked for me so I had to tinker a bit before it was up and running smoothly (ish).

Hardware:
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (FE)
Intel i7-930 2,93 GHz
Zotac Geforce GT640 2048 MB
Kingston 12 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3

Multibeast:
Quick Start > DSDT Free
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC889
Drivers > Disk > 3rd Party SATA
Drivers > Disk > TRIM Enabler > 10.10.x TRIM Patch
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.14.1364
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.14.1364 Plugins
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.14.1364 HWMonitor Application
Drivers > Misc > NullCPUPower Management
Drivers > Misc > USB 3.0 - Universval
Drivers > Network > Realtek > RealtekRTL81xx v0.0.90
Drivers > System > AppleACPIPlatform Rollback > 10.9.5 AppleACPIPlatform Rollback
Bootloaders > Chimera v4.0.1
Customize > Boot Options > Basic Boot Options
Customize > Boot Options > Generate CPU States
Customize > Boot Options > Hibernate Mode - Dekstop
Customize > Boot Options > Kext Dev Mode
Customize > Boot Options > Use KernelCache
Customize > System Definitions > Mac Pro > Mac Pro 5,1
Customize > Themes > tonymacx86 Black

The machine is now up and running. Sometimes however it won't boot. It freezes approximately in the middle of the last progress bar and won't continue. This happens every once in a while when rebooting as well as starting from power off. It doesn't really bother me so I haven't taken the time to troubleshoot it yet, but should anyone have a clue as to what might cause this, feel free to point me in the right direction. That would be appreciated. :)

I have this setup and it works well. A few suggestions:

1. Remove Drivers > Misc > NullCPUPower Management
2. Use Mac Pro 3,1 system definition
3. Use DSDT from DSDT Database

See if that stabilizes things.

Thanks for your tips!

There is just one thing, as far as I know I have the Rev 1.0 version of this motherboard, and I can't find a DSDT file for this. Is there something I've overlooked? :)

It's in the Downloads - DSDT section.

Yup, I realized that right after I posted. I also found out that I actually have the Rev 2.0 FE version.

I tried removing the NullCpuPowerManagement kext, change to Mac Pro 3,1 definition and added the correct DSDT. It made no difference. Once in a while it still freezes when trying to boot. :)

I've tried these settings, but still getting no audio whatsoever. Same motherboard as you. Weird thing is when I copy items from one drive to another, or install something, I get the small *DING* sound effect through the speakers. I can also plug in headphones into the front audio inputs and can hear audio. I'll hear some weird static noise, but audio will still play through from the front speaker input. But nothing through main speaker input. Am I still missing something?

Thank you very much kind sir.

I can confirm that this list
without NullCPU
with DSDT for GA-X58A-UD3R FH
made yosemite 10.10 boot fine on my i7 930

Before that, it wouldn't boot.
I think these 3 did the trick
DSDT
10.9.5 AppleACPIPlatform Rollback
MacPro5,1

My system also upgrade to 10.10.5 this weekend.
The most important thing was remember to choose following 2 items in MultiBeast, otherwise it will hang after PCI config and cause CMOS reset.
(1) 10.9.5 AppleACPIPlatform Rollback
(2) AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset

My system:
OS X: 10.10.5 (14F27) => upgrade to 10.10.5 (14F1909)
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Rev.2 with BIOS FH
Gigabyte GV-N75TOC2-2GI (GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB DDR5)

NVIDIA web driver for GTX 750 Ti works great, HDMI audio works through DSDT edit.
Remember to install the NVIDIA web driver for specified OS X version and put nvda_drv=1 when boot system.

Here are my detail settings of MultiBeast.
Quick Start > UserDSDT - ~/DSDT-FH-OK.aml (I modify it for HDMI audio)
Drivers > Audio > Realtek ALCxxx > ALC889
Drivers > Disk > 3rd Party SATA
Drivers > Misc > FakeSMC v6.18.1394
Drivers > Network > Intel > AppleIntelE1000e v3.2.4.2 (I had Intel 82574 ethernet card in my system)
Drivers > System > AppleACPIPlatform Rollback > 10.9.5 AppleACPIPlatform Rollback
Drivers > System > Patched AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement > OS X 10.9.0 Drivers > System > AppleRTC Patch for CMOS Reset
Bootloaders > Chimera v4.1.0
Customize > Boot Options > Basic Boot Options
Customize > Boot Options > Generate CPU States
Customize > Boot Options > Hibernate Mode - Desktop
Customize > Boot Options > IGPEnabler=No
Customize > Boot Options > Kext Dev Mode
Customize > Boot Options > PCI Root ID Fix
Customize > Boot Options > Use KernelCache
Customize > Boot Options > Verbose Boot
Customize > System Definitions > Mac Pro > Mac Pro 3,1

Note: remove Customize > SSDT Options > Sandy Bridge Core i7
