Comments

This is my second hackingtosh build. I basically did the first one to find out how it was working. The first one was based on an Asus P8z68-V Pro/gen 3 MB and an i5-2500K. It worked out quite well. So I decided to build a more UpToDate machine for my day to day use. (I do own 5 genuine Macs, also.)

For the software installation I did a lot of research all over the internet, but pretty much ended up following the great Golden Build guide of @CaseySJ that can be found here:

https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/success-gigabyte-designare-z390-thunderbolt-3-i7-9700k-amd-rx-580.267551/

As the software of my build is close to his build, I found a lot of tips on how to prepare the BIOS, and what kexts to use to get everything working.

I prefer to keep my system stable, and I also need to have access to some older software. So I choose to stay on Mojave for now.

You can see videos of this builds process here:

Part1: The Case conversion

The links to Part 1 through Part 5 do not work.

Good looking G5 Mod sir!. Do you have any more pictures to post?.

@Mikkmakk66, while pictures are OK in this thread, I encourage you to open a thread in the Workshop > Case Mods > Completed Mods or PowerMac G5 forum sections. The Builds forum sections are just for how you got the system's components to work together. TIA.

There is added some pictures to the build now.

Gorgeous!, I've seen a few G5 mods using RGB blue, the colors go well together. Good job on your build.

Very nice build. Do you know if it is possible to use 4x32GB RAM sticks with your Setup? This Mainboard and CPU should support this. I'm just curious because nobody posted a build with 128GB RAM yet.. also there is no 128GB option listed on the buyers guide
