[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

I looked inside the box one more time to make sure everything is plugged in, and when I pulled out the bad ram, I forgot to reinsert a plug. MY fault! Sorry to waste your time on that one; it's all back in working order. Many thanks for your patient guidance!
Trouble shooting step #1: Is it plugged in?

Hi all,

Anyone update to the latest OC 0.8.5 on this MOBO yet? Since I went from 0.8.1 to 0.8.3 and the latest 12.6 OS my WIFI issues have returned (network slows down/hangs and need to reboot or turn WIFI off and on), my USB 2.0 ports/hub are laggy, and I’m getting corrupted/glitchy video renders in DaVinci Resolve when exporting H.264/265.

If 0.8.5 is not an option, does anyone know if OC 0.8.1 works well with OS 12.6? I’m not completely sure whether this is a 12.6 thing or an OC version issue.

Thanks for any insight here.

Just updated to 0.8.5 and everything is good again!

Oh that doesn’t look good! ;)

Fortunately, most name-brand memory modules have lifetime warranty. If you have the purchase receipt, I would recommend filing a warranty claim on the manufacturer’s website.

It did that recently for a pair of faulty G.Skill DDR5 modules, which the manufacturer replaced very quickly.
Sadly, I'm still having freezes, though not as bad as before replacing the bad ram. I can usually force quit everything and restart. Ran Memtest86 again, got a clean bill of health. Also ran Unigine Heaven to see if I could replicate the freeze with GPU stressing, but no. How should I trouble shoot this?

Unigine Heaven Benchmark:
Quality ULTRA. FPS 64.4 / Score 1621
Quality High FPS 81.0 / Score 2041

Morning - apologies as I am sure this has been covered before but I am struggling to hunt down the right posts in this thread....

I have been running my build for the past couple of years, all well apart from the odd boot issue. So seems to be running as follows:

MacOs BigSur 11.4
Opencore 0.6.2

I would like to upgrade to Monterey without breaking anything - this is my daily driver... If I clone the drive for backup as per the guide - can I simply do the Software Update to the new OS or am I likely to kill this build? Just want to keep it all simple!

Thanks! Hackindrom is suggesting update to 0.8.3, shall I do this first before the software update or after?
Yes, please copy your existing EFI folder to EFI partition of a USB flash drive (emergency boot disk) before upgrading to 0.8.3.

Are the first two screenshots showing graphics glitches?
  • Which version of BIOS is installed?
  • If you have Windows or Linux on this system, do graphics glitches and freezes occur there as well?
