[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Hello @CrazyPegasus,

The firmware files you posted are 254KB instead of 1MB. How did you extract the files? Did you use a CH341a SPI Flash ROM programmer?

Attached is a modified version, but because the file size is less than 1MB, I have no idea if this file is suitable. You assume all risk if you proceed with flashing the attached file into your system.
Sir, I have a HP Thunderbolt card (HP Flex IO Thundercard) with chip model jhl7340, only one port. ROM use CH341a SPI Flash ROM programmer dump. I want to hot plug under macOS, but don't know how to do it. I really hope to get your help.

If you're not seeing an option for 4K60 over DisplayPort, it may be possible to get 4K60 using SwitchResX.
Thanks so much CaseySJ!

My "problem was solved"... Can't quite explain it ... I started by following your instructions to upgrade to OC 0.7.8 and then also upgraded to MacOS 11.6.5 ... then just tried to hotplug the TV via DP - though it auto-switched to 1920p, when I clicked Settings -> Displays I was able to set "Scaled" and asked for "More Space" and Voilá got the resolution I wanted! Now it shows 3840x2160 @60Hz with 30-bit color. Let's see if the system remains stable for a while.

Thanks again!

Hi telicha,

Regarding latest EFI for Opencore yes there is. CaseySJ's guide for Big Sur is here. > https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/...700k-amd-rx-580.316533/page-3505#post-2306724

As for the Sapphire card crashing issue, maybe it is because you are missing some settings for the card. What are your device property settings for the card under PCIRoot? Is the AMD GPU accelerated? Does all the VRAM show up? Have you tried using the boot-arg agdpmod=ignore? Also what are your SMBIOS settings?

Thanks so much for your help, Middleman!

I was able to install both OC 0.7.8 per CaseySJ's instructions above and successfully upgraded to MacOS 11.6.5. The system now seems to be stable, and I need to run it for a few days to see if I have any crashes. I have pics for the PCIRoot settings as follows ... seems to be correct ... I think the AMD GPU is accelerated, seems to be quite responsive, and all the VRAM shows up. The agdpmod=pikera and SMBIOS is set to iMac 19,1.
Thanks again!

Aghh!! @CaseySJ - hope you're good.
I've just updated via HackinDROM (which I never normally use). It just rebooted, and I'm stuck on an OpenShell.EFI - I ran it but I'm not sure what to do as I've not encountered this before. First update since June 21. As always any help greatly appreciated.

Which version of OpenCore it was before updating?

Hi @Inqnuam thanks for the speedy reply - so I think it was 0.7.2 - I'm not sure now without being able to log in but were talking June 21 when I last tinkered with OC. It's been very stable and if it ain't broke and all that!!

Have you used latest version (v2.1.1) of HackinDROM to update ?
Have you used the "Update" button or you have updated it with standalone updater from context-menu?
Didn't you got error messages during the update?

Yes, I updated with latest HackinDROM. I used update button - no errors during update - something I've not really done before, usually went in the EFI manually

Hi Fellow Hackintoshers!

I have recently upgraded from a Big Sur install ( running for quite some time with no problems ) to a fresh Monterey install due to an hard disk failure.

I have used HackinDROM to generate my EFI, as i have the Z390 Designare and a Fenvi T919 BT/Wireless card.

Everything is running perfectly except i am having random shutdown/restarts and Crashes.

I have tried changing my graphics card but the same problem exists. I am sure it is Graphics related from what i can divulge from the error logs but i am far from an expert and need help.

HackinDROM v2.1.1
Opencore v0.7.9

System Specs:
Gigabyte Z390 Designare
Intel i7 9700
WD Black SN750 SE 1TB
96GB DDR 4 Ram ( 2x32, 2x16 )
Fenvi T919 BT/Wireless card
Radeon RX580

Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong, or how i can troubleshoot this?

Regards
Stoneroad
