[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

** Custom BIOS F9i with Latest Intel Micro Code, 0xEA **
Credit: @Elias64Fr

WARNING:
Please install
BIOS F9i OFFICIAL version before installing this one
If you are already running BIOS F9i, then you may install the new BIOS directly

Elias has done it again! He has inserted the latest Intel Coffee Lake microcode from Apple's most recent firmware update (part of Big Sur 11.4) into the Gigabyte Z390 Designare F9i BIOS. The latest microcode is version 0xEA and applies to the CPUID 0906 family of 8th and 9th generation Intel Core processors.

Even though the new microcode was released with Big Sur 11.4, it applies to the Intel processor itself and not to any particular operating system. All versions of macOS, Windows, Linux, etc. are compatible.

The resulting file is called Z390DESI_modMC_01052021_0906_Rev_0xEA.F9i, and it's attached below.

As always, the decision to use or not use this BIOS is up to you. It is entirely optional. I have tested the new BIOS for half a day now with no issues.

0xEA Intel Micro Code for z390 Aorus Master. This is F11o modded version (also latest drivers inside). Should be installed using efiflash: efiflash.exe "name of file" /X
Tested and working! Thnx to @KedarWolf!

** DRAM COMPATIBILITY CHART WHEN VT-d (AppleVTD) IS ENABLED **
Mojave and Catalina Users: You have nothing to worry about! You may ignore this post.
Please do not quote this post in its entirety. Use a link or excerpt instead.

This is an ongoing list of DRAM that is known to be compatible with Z390 Designare, Z490 Vision D, and possibly other Intel-based desktop motherboards. Incompatible memory will prevent WiFi and Ethernet from connecting. This post applies only to macOS Big Sur and may apply to subsequent versions such as Monterey.

NOTES:
  • If using only two 8GB DIMMs, all memory modules (any make/model) are compatible, and will not affect WiFi and Ethernet. You can ignore the rest of this post.
    • If using two 8GB DIMMs and one or two 4GB DIMMs, all modules might still be compatible, but this has not been verified.
  • If using only two 4GB DIMMs, all memory modules (any make/model) should be compatible.
    • If using four 4GB DIMMs, all modules might still be compatible, but this has not been verified.
  • If using only one 16GB DIMM, all memory modules (any make/model) should be compatible.
  • If you have an Intel High-End Desktop based on X99 or X299, all memory modules (any make/model) should be compatible. You can ignore the rest of this post.

To use more than 16GB RAM, here is a list of DIMM modules that are known to work, and a list of modules known to cause WiFi and Ethernet connection failures when more than 16GB is installed.

Working DIMM Models (no WiFi and Ethernet connection problem): None so far in Big Sur or newer OS.

Make Model Capacity Reported By

macOS Big Sur: Causes WiFi and Ethernet Connection Failure (only when more than 16GB is installed):

Thanks! I'll add a link to this in Quick Reference spoiler in Post 1. Should this be installed on top of F11n Official?

Update: Reference added.

You stated that with AppleVTD enabled, WiFi and Ethernet do not work with G.Skill Ripjaws 4x32GB memory. If you go to System Information --> Memory, you'll see the part number. Can you please post that?
F4-3200C16-32GVK

Although the product I ordered shows F4-3200C16Q-128GVK on the product page.

Doesn't matter. Can be installed over all BIOS. Just "restore defaults" and settings rebuild.

Thanks! Should it be F4-3200C16D-32GVK?

There was no D when I did the check, though the set has a different part number with a Q.

Also, you updated with my entry but you listed it as a 16GB module. These are 32GB modules.

@StefanAM,
My experience with F11o and F11n was not good as it appeared to break some thunderbolt/USB-c functionality. I believe there are similar problems with the latest versions of the Designare BIOS. Since it is based on the F11o version, does this patched version only update the intel microcode? Or does it fix the problems introduced in the last two beta versions?

Part number F4-3200C16Q-32GVK is 8GB:
