[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Having a hard time getting verbose mode to come up. CMD-V after selecting the start up drive in the OC chooser right? It seems to ignore the input.
...
No, press and release CMD-V before selecting the startup drive.

This may require Misc>Boot>PollAppleHotKeys: true.
Or just add '-v' to boot-args (under NVRAM).
Thanks, adding -v worked.

This is the last screen before it goes black at startup.

Found some previous posts of people getting stuck at gIOSCreenLockState 3, hs0, bs 0, now 0, sm 0x0 but those all seem to be related to iGPU while I'm using a dGPU to drive the HDMI output.

Can't update to Ventura
I'm currently running mMonterey 12.6 on Designare 390 9900k, 6800xt, OC 9.2 and everything is working great.
However when I go to update to Ventura, it downloads, and I restart to start the update. Nope.
I boot into my backup and and I get the
'this Mac restarted" screen with this report.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

I would recommend a fresh installation of Ventura on a spare SSD or a new APFS volume. A new APFS volume can be created in Disk Utility as shown:

See if a fresh installation works. Some tips:
  • Install Ventura in the new APFS volume or spare SSD
  • Set SecureBootModel to Default in config.plist -> Misc -> Security
  • Post a list of all devices connected to the system

Did that and still got nowhere.

I pulled out all of the cards: Qnap 10gbe, Fenvi 919.
The 6800 XT is in the top slot
The M.2 that I'm currently running is in a PCIe adapter, working great.

Using the EFI from the boot drive in the USB installer.

Gigabyte Designare Z390, i9-9900K, RX 6800 XT, Monterey 12.6.6, Mac model 19,1 iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2019).

Worked fine.

Thanks for your help.

Is anyone using this build with an RX580 connected to a DisplayPort monitor with an end-to-end DisplayPort cable? I am getting the black screen/no DisplayPort signal after login. OpenCore and initial boot works fine, though. (BIOS' CSM is off) Please and thank you.

Does anyone know how to enable h265 accelerated encoding. Thanks.

iGPU enabled and not Auto in Bios does the trick.
