I'm going to flash my thunderbolt rom, did you find any issues with using this rom? any advantage over original NVM33 of Z390?Bonjour @CaseySJ
I have successfully tested Z490 Vision D NVM50 firmware (patched firmware) on Z390 Designare with some minor modifications like:
This file include (as Z490 Vision D):
- SubsystemID revert back to Designare
- Modified DROM including Port 7 activation
- Modified DROM including Apple system name (could be reverted back to Gigabyte)
- Original Designare UID (00 00 .. ED) included on DROM in order to be customised on ThunderboltDROM property

- version 1.37.0 of Link controller firmware (instead of 0.99.0 of Designare)
- version 1.38.6 of TI Power Delivery firmware (instead of 1.38.4 of Designare)
Results seem to be very good including Sleep/Wake with my HP eGPU. I join this new testing file
Correct — if the board is not powered some other way then we must power it ourselves by connecting Vcc to Pin 1 of the Pi (3V3).
The low cost clip is okay for the AIC as well.
im using this one, and worked every time on different flashing dumping projects. Dont know if this one is available in your countryOk, going with the low cost clip. I do see the high quality clip is actually in stock for amazon prime 2 day delivery. Is that a better option? Yesterday it was a 2 week delivery lead time(as the posts indicated that it came from Poland).

Big weekend project coming up. Flash the ROM and pray I can get my Apple TBD working, : ).
Please also try Reset NVRAM from the OpenCore Picker. If problem persists, feel free to compress and upload your "OC" folder with serial numbers redacted.
The Pomona 5250 has a narrower nose and stem, which allows it to be used in tighter spaces. If you're flashing a motherboard that is already installed and the Thunderbolt firmware chip is accessible, but a bit close to an obstruction, then the Pomona makes more sense. Additionally, because of the narrower nose and more compact overall footprint, it's less likely to damage or dislodge nearly surface mount devices. However, the Pomona 5250 does not grip as tightly as the low-cost clip, and may require some support if connecting to a vertically-oriented motherboard.Ok, going with the low cost clip. Are you running Mojave or Catalina?
- Some folks reported problems with IntelMausiEthernet.kext and replaced it with IntelMausi.kext from acidanthera GitHub page. One can also try disabling IntelMausiEthernet in OpenCore Configurator just to see if that is the problem.
- If using Mojave, we need to disable SSDT-USBW and USBWakeFixup.kext as described in the OpenCore 0.6.0 mini-guide.
If you need help with any of those steps, just ask.I am using Mojave. I will work on this and report back.
Oh,Ah.
F9g beta, then you'll don't need to unlock MSR 0xE2
Nope, all good to my devices.@StefanAM nice! no kernel panics or 2x bootups needed? HP works? could you please post your ssdt and dsdt? thanks
