[SUCCESS] Gigabyte Designare Z390 (Thunderbolt 3) + i7-9700K + AMD RX 580

Ok, so here is the latest... First off, I do in fact have the DP pass-thru option under TB security. Alas, it made no difference when attempting to boot. Disabling iGPU also made no difference as I would still get the 5 beeps from the motherboard telling me there is no display. The only thing that did work was using the DP from the GPU to my UHD monitor. Then using TB from TR to 4K UltraFine then looped out to my TS3 Plus dock. I tested without WEG, but I was only able to get the UHD DP (GPU) monitor to activate. I also tested this with the Pike R black screen patch, but it was still a no go. TB bus was always detected along with the UltraFine monitor, but it would not activate without WEG. I can live with this configuration, but my quest still remains... all video over TB. For my machine, it does not matter what I have plugged into the Titan Ridge card, if there's no monitor plugged directly in to the GPU, the Aorus Master does not detect a display. Again, this is not the behavior with non-patched Titan Ridge firmware. I can run everything over TB without issue.

Well I have patched TR and I just rebooted with nothing but the two pass threw DP plugged into the titan ridge and it booted perfectly fine. I really have no idea why your system believes that you do not have a monitor plugged in because pass threw is just that it passes the signal threw.:banghead:

The pike R patch likely does not work because well you are on a VII, and if WEG is working cool. Why do you need a DP monitor to pass threw the thunderbolt? I really have no clue as to why I can make everything go threw the Titan Ridge without issue. I also tried with only USB-C ---> HDMI plugged in with nothing in the video card but the bridge cables.

PS are you using the THB_C header? Or are you doing 3-->5 pin bridge?

At the top of post #16,393 you'll find the necessary links:

Thank you very much @CaseySJ for your time putting all this information together and for your support, since yesterday, I have been trying to understand how to use this info and trying different combinations/modifications of the files with my Flashed NUC8i7BEH but with no success, this is frustrating :(

@faithie999 can you please share with me your complete EFI folder of your flashed NUC8i3BEH to compare with mine to see what I am doing wrong, sorry to bother you but I don't know anyone else with a NUC8 so similar than mine that is flashed and working.

Thanks

Do Thunderbolt devices connect when you do this:
  • Boot computer without TB3 devices connected.
  • After logging in, connect a TB3 device to port 1 (i.e. hot-plug).
  • Then reboot the computer with TB3 device still connected.
  • Log back in.
  • Does it work?

WOW! yes, doing all these steps in order my external TB3 NVME hard drive finally works! I was thinking the flashing process damaged the TB3 port but not.

what do you think, what should I do?

Thanks

Hi All.
Wow, 2073 pages :)
My version of clover is a few releases old and I was wondering if there is any advantage to updating to a later version or just leave it if its not broken..

If there is an advantage to keeping it up to date, what is the correct process for updating?

If you do not keep your clover and kexts up to date then you should not up date your OS as it can break.

Here is a guide for updating clover:

Please look at:
These two posts should be read 2 or 3 times. It's also good to print them on paper so you can refer to them quickly.

It is not easy to read/write to the chip, so it's very important to stay patient and careful. It's also good to take a rest or a break and come back several hours later or next day.
