there are guides and information about flashing TB ROMs linked from page 1 of the thread.
post 16,393 is the repository of all the patched firmwares. in that post also are links to the method for doing the flashing. most of us have used the Raspberry Pi approach. the official recommendation is a Pi 3B or 4, but I have used a 2B successfully.

the most important thing is to THOROUGHLY read through the guide(s) that you will need to use, then read them again, before starting. then follow the guide(s) to the letter and take your time.
Im familiar with all the guides from CaseySJ and have them bookmarked. If there is nothing different about the ssdt-only approach as opposed to flashing, let me know. I’m not willing to flash my machine until I have a backup as my TB is built in. An SSDT-only approach though, I can experiment with and revert if necessary. Make sense?

sorry. I misunderstood your question.

start with post 19,995 where @dgsga outlines his method. it should work for you since he developed the ssdt for on-board AR. I'm sure he'll respond to questions you have along the way.

I have an AIC AR and I'm still working on getting the SSDT right.

Awesome! Thanks for that. I know it's still work-in-progress but I want to keep up to date on it, and maybe be able to contribute useful results :)

If macOS thinks that the drive is Internal then it won't show an eject option. If you think there is a problem please post a screenshot and describe the disk (make, model, and is it USB, Thunderbolt, internal SATA, internal NVMe, etc.).

Yes no problem. But make a backup of the CLOVER folder just in case.

if the eject button is absent, click the drive you want to eject with a right click and the menu should include an eject option

Wanted to chime in with a positive experience on a new build with the following specs:
  • Z390 DESIGNARE
  • Intel Core i5-9600K
  • Sapphire Nitro+ RX 5700 XT
  • Dual 27" LG 27GL83A-B monitors
  • 32GB 16x2 DDR4-3200 Crucial Ballistix
  • Fenvi FV-T919
  • WD SN550 1TB NVMe
I started the build off by flashing the TB chip on the board fresh out of the box with a CH341A (what I had in hand). It took a couple of tries to seat the clip just right enough to get the LEDs dim red, but eventually got three identical reads and proceeded to flash. Updated BIOS, BIOS settings, saved to profile, then proceeded to unlock MSR. Next, I followed the 10.15.4 fresh install mini guide with modifications to use OpenCore from the start. EFI copied to the install drive, Thunderbolt DROM added to the SSDT, and it's running perfectly with no issues so far.

Many thanks to @CaseySJ and everyone else in the thread for the incredible work put in, it's crazy just how great this board is for Hackintoshing. Will look into RadeonBoost in a couple of days after I enjoy the system for a bit, and plan on upgrading to a 9700K/9900K in the near future.

That is just...awesome! Got everything done right from the start!
