So quick question - the WiFi/Bluetooth adapter - does it matter which PCIEx1 slot I put it in? My Vega covers the top slot and I just realized that that's considers 1_1. I've been trying to get it to work in 1_2 this whole time.

Have you gone through the process of elimination as follows:
  1. Remove all connected external USB devices except keyboard and mouse.
  2. Put system to sleep from Apple menu. Does it work?
  3. If step 2 works, connect one USB device back at a time and test sleep.
  4. If step 2 fails, type this in Terminal and post the output: pmset -g assertions
  5. Does Messages work? And FaceTime too?
Tried steps 1/2 and no dice. iMessage and FaceTime are working great, I'm signed into both. Here's the output from step 4:

The Broadcom WiFi/BT adapter should function in any slot, but the bottommost x1 slot is preferred. We just need to install SSDT-Z390-DESIGNARE-NO-CNVW.aml.

Which WiFi/BT card and adapter are you using? Fenvi FV-T919?

Process ID 56 (powerd) is being flagged. Can you run “Activity Monitor” and see whether this process appears in the list, and if so, any additional details about it?

I’m using a BCM94360CS2 with the pci adapter you recommended at the beginning of your guide. I guess I could reinstall the no-cnvw aml and see if it works. Just place it in the efi folder like the original post install step right? And re-run kext tool?

Just logged on to my computer:
  • powerd will appear in Activity Monitor when you select View --> All Processes.
  • powerd is invoked from here: /System/Library/CoreServices/powerd.bundle/powerd.
  • The "man" page shows: Daemon that manages Energy Preferences
Couple of follow-ups:
  • Please post a screenshot of your System Preferences --> Energy Saver panel.
  • In Activity Monitor, you can also try selecting powerd and then clicking the top left icon within the Activity Monitor window (Force Quit). It should restart after a brief moment. Try Sleep again.

Alright, since I cannot even remember what I had for lunch a day or two ago :), I went back through your posts to remind myself of the problem and the steps taken.

Suggestions:
  • I can audit your CLOVER folder if you can compress and upload it (you may remove serial numbers from config.plist).
  • If nothing jumps out, it may be time to consider replacing the WiFi/BT card (Fenvi FV-T919 would be a better choice).

Powerd does appear in activity monitor. Internet says it's related to power management. It's currently using 0.1% CPU (if that matters).

Should I Force Quit the process?

Hey Again! summing up about a week and a half with the machine, and it's still running great, except for one issue that started coming up - Powering up after shutting down.

If I shut down the computer and try to turn it on again (not through restart, that seems to have less/no issues), I have some difficulty on reaching the desktop again-
Either the monitor is black and stays black (which might be a graphics thing, or something with my monitor, which I won't be surprised about. It behaves the same for both the HDMI output and the TB3 output (with HDMI->dvi cable)), or it gets stuck in clover in "scan entries" (I read some posts about this problem and the suggested fixes didn't help). Usually if I try to restart a couple more times at some point it will work. The only other noticeable issue that might somehow be related is that the TB3 doesn't always connect on startup (I have a tb3 drive that isn't always visible when I turn the computer on).

It's important to mention that if I do a hard reset and turn off the PSU and wait, it will probably start with none of these issues (which is something I do a lot anyway), but I would like to understand and possibly solve what ever it is that's causing this.

Has anyone experienced these issues?
Thanks!!!

Yes, but sleep issues can be tricky to isolate and resolve, and if you’re not careful, they can be contagious to humans...
