I think I know one reason they rereleased. I actually setup 5120 before it got pulled, and I noticed it did not install OpenRuntime.efi. It was in the off folder and could be copied over.

Who knows what else changed, but that's at least one bug in the pulled version.

Decided not to wait til evening... ;)

This is being posted from the Designare Z390 with PowerColor Red Dragon RX 5700 XT booted with OpenCore 0.5.9 taken straight from the OpenCore mini-guide with serial numbers copied from Clover config.plist.

It's completely solid. No issues.

Using WhateverGreen 1.4.0 (same version that is included in the ZIP at the bottom of the mini-guide).

Thank you so much for your quick reply Casey. Not sure why mine is not booting. Using my Radeon VII and the EFI folder is working perfectly, just not with the 5700 XT pulse and WEG kext. Maybe time to go back to Clover and see if it is more stable. I switched to OC about 4 months ago, not sure where clover is now. In your opinion, which loader is more stable and more compatible right now between OC and Clover?

Btw, how is the Z490 build treating you? And which one are your daily driver out of all 4 computers on your signature? :)

Some tips:
  • Please check if “agdpmod=pikera” is still present in Boot Arguments
  • Does the Sapphire have a switch to toggle between silent mode and over-clocking/gaming mode? If so, try both modes
  • Also try enabling CSM Support in BIOS
  • If you’re using RadeonBoost, remove it
My daily driver for email and web-related actives (including this website) is the Z490 Vision D. But for work, media management (I have terabytes of audio/video files), programming, etc., it’s the Z390 Designare with the RX 5700 XT.

The Z490 Vision D continues to be an absolutely wonderful system. With the new F5d firmware (BIOS) the GUI has changed completely, and takes on the new “Vision series” look.

Worked perfectly, thanks to your great guides! Next step for me will be flashing the onboard TB chip, just waiting for the UIC-8 clip...

Thunderbolt firmware flashing is a personal favorite topic, but it must be handled with extreme care. Good near-sighted vision is very important or we can risk dislodging nearby surface mount components. This is an endeavor in which one must always be willing to pause, take a deep breath or coffee break, ask questions, etc. whenever something doesn't seem to go right.

@CaseySJ

I should have left well enough alone! I had been using Clover r5118 without problems. I decided to follow your Micro Guide for Installing Clover r5120. Very straightforward.

Unfortunately I got the dreaded "Prohibited" sign on reboot. I tried the power-off for 10 seconds, cleared NVRAM, reduced memory speed in BIOS. I continued to get the "Prohibited" sign.

Of course I had a current backup, so I will revert to Clover r5118 until this can be resolved.

Confirming my Quirks settings per the guide:

Confirming my driver files per the guide:

What often happens with these builds - what works for thee, doesn't work for me. Any suggestions?

Because feedback from this community can be helpful to the development of Intel WiFi and BT drivers, I'll describe how to install the Intel Bluetooth driver. But please log all problem reports with the developer on their GitHub site.

Hi @CaseySJ, thanks for the guide, I followed all the steps except the boot arguments. because I never had the Fenvi device, the Bluetooth works and recognizes the devices, but it doesn't connect and it stops when I try to send a file to the device from Hackintosh, am I doing something wrong?

Kudos for having a backup! Questions/suggestions:
  • Are you running Mojave or Catalina?
  • Were you using OcQuirks-4/FwRuntimeServices or the more recent OcQuirks.efi/OcQuirks.plist/OpenRuntime?
  • Is MSR 0xE2 unlocked?
  • Have you tried enabling verbose mode by adding -v to the end of Boot Arguments? This can be done at the Clover Boot Menu itself (select "Options"). If so, what do you see when the boot process stops?
