Hi,@CaseySJ
I am very happy that you have not forgotten me.

Yes, I have plugged in the DP-IN port of the motherboard. If SSDT is not used, everything is normal, but there is no Thunderbolt Bus.

I have a CH341a programmer, it would be great if you could help me modify the firmware, thank you very much, this firmware can be used, I don’t know why it is only 288KB, my GC-AR V2 AIC firmware is also less than 1MB, please Fill the remaining space with 0xFF.

There is also a problem. When using SSDT, if it is a hot restart, nothing will be loaded under BR1B. Thunderbolt cannot be used, only cold boot can be loaded.

Thank you again for your help!
I've modified the firmware, but as always, be very careful with this procedure:
  • Use an external SPI ROM reader/writer to read existing firmware at least 3 times and make sure (a) the contents are not empty and (b) the checksums are the same.
  • Then flash the attached file, but keep the original one safe. It may well be necessary to flash original one back.
  • If you're not careful, you might dislodge some surface-mount components near the firmware chip.
You assume all risk and liability for carrying out this procedure. If something goes wrong, you are entirely responsible for your actions.

That is amazing...now that the board is going out of production! :) Let's see if Z490 Vision D comes with this option. Nevertheless, F9g could be a huge blessing for all existing Z390 Designare owners. No longer will we need to run the special grub shell. Instead, we could just save this setting along with all others in a single "Profile" and reload the profile whenever needed.

Please see the post linked below. I think the SSDT approach and kext approach are both interesting and well worth testing. The most radical improvements have been on synthetic benchmarks and not quite as much on real world operations, but that's where more user testing comes in. Perhaps someone can find a set of real world tasks that truly benefits from this. My guess is that certain photo processing operations will benefit, but not audio or video.
You can get same result as using the kext and SSDT by injecting a couple of properties via clover or OC. @CMMChris has noted that for Radeon VII at least "ForceLoadFalconSmuFirmware" bool - yes is the only thing that effects performance in radeonbooster.kext. The SSDT injects a power play table that overclocks your card. What parameters are used in the power table don't seem to be well documented and is kind of a one size fits all approach. OC and Clover can also inject a powertable through device properties and CMMChris has created a set of excel spreadsheets for Vega, 5700xt, and R VII that lets you roll your own power table to control fans, voltage and clocks appropriate for your particular hardware and use case. I had an issue with using the SSDT in that it really increased the fan noise but didn't really increase performance much. Creating my own power table using CMMChris's tool and undervolting my card produced better performance and much less fan noise.

It very well might. a few of the updates for the Z390's and Z490 over at TweakTown mentioned the CFG lock in this round of betas. I wonder if they are getting a lot of requests for it or something. Its a wonder it wasn't there before seeing as how there are a zillion other settings that they have in the BIOS menu's these days. I agree though, going through the modgrubshell wasn't a HUGE hassle before, but having quick access to that setting now through the main menu is certainly a time saver. as well a headache saver for the hackintosh infants.

stable as a table. actually F9b, F9c, F9e, and F9f had no issues as well
JK, I admire your courage but I think I'll wait til it shows up on the gigabyte page before I re-flash.

I built a Machine based on the guide from this thread, WHO and FOR WHAT needs CFG lock disabled?
I have a 9900k and a rx580 I seem to be having some troubles waking from sleep, If I remember well, everything used to work just fine, I have installed a good few apps lately so if they are responsible for the change, where should I start in recorrecting it, thank you.

Hey all, I am Running.

I had a great working install but I tried updating Clover and I have COMPLETELY MESSED EVERYTHING up,
would anyone with my config PLEASE (it will be MUCH appreciated) be so kind as to clone their complete EFI partition, and "/Library/Extensions" for me? Thank you soo much in advance.
