Problem: No multibeast KEXT files in /library/extensions folder after running multibeast in post installation step 2 of this tutorial. I don't know whether to continue with the install or troubleshoot from this point.

First attached screenshot shows my folders, second screenshot shows the step I'm at in the tutorial.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

My build:

MB: Gigabyte Z390 Designare
CPU: i9-9900k
GPU: MSI Aero 1080 Ti
SSD's: Samsung 970 Evo NVMe M2 Internal SSD 1tb, + 500tb (for OS)
RAM: Ballistix Sport LT 64GB Kit (16GBx4) DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DIMM 288-Pin - BLS4K16G4D240FSB (Gray)
Wifi: fenvi T919 BCM94360CD Native Airport WiFi BT 4.0 1750Mbps 5GHz/2.4GHz MIMO
The latest MultiBeast no longer installs kexts in /Library/Extensions. And that's perfectly fine. Just check that all those kexts are present in CLOVER/kexts/Other.

Hi Casey,

I am currently running 10.15.3 on Clover 4xxx. I've been trying to search the thread but could not find a definitive answer. Should I upgrade Clover to 5xxx prior to upgrading to 10.15.4? Or can I just update WEG, AppleALC, and Lilu?

Thank you!!
Hello @wordsworth03,

In addition to updating Clover as mentioned by @faithie999, we should clear NVRAM as well. This is done by pressing F11 at the Clover Boot Menu.

Thanks, Casey. Is there a clear, step-by-step guide on how to upgrade Clover 4xxx to 5xxx? I've seen a few guides but they are a bit vague for me and I don't want to mess anything up with the upgrade. Thanks again

Hello, @szw75!
Yes, I have updated to 10.15.4 and can confirm they added the HDR support future in the display section. See
system pref->display but be aware of some buggy video play back depending on your overall setup. does your monitor/tv have hdr support if so you will see the box in displays in system pref..
Well, I've got a Panasonic 58" 4K HDR TV (TX-58DX750B) and bought a new fibre optic 5m HDMI 2.0 Cable (4K@60Hz HDR/CEC/HDCP 2.2) connected to my Radeon VII on 10.15.4 and still "nada" on System Pref->Display...

Funny enough, on Windows 10 x64 I do get the PQR (HDR10) mode @30Hz, although with some washed out colours and any movie played with internal TV player is just amazing in HDR!

Do you know on how to diagnose where the problem might be ?

@CaseySJ, maybe this will be next big addition to this thread: HDR10 for everyone, no ?

I've run AGDCDiagnose both in MacPro5.1 & MacPro7.1 SMBIOS, but cannot understand the massive output...

Still having trouble with UAD Apollo 16 MK2 not working properly. It shows up correctly in System Information and looks right in IORegistry Explorer, shows that it is connected in UAD Meter, looks correct on the device indicator lights on the apollo, but produces no sound. It does make very crackly distorted sound when youtube is autoplaying at boot and before the UAD connection dialog box comes up and runs, but then it cuts out as soon as the box closes. I am using a Startech TB2 >TB3 adapter and not an Apple, could this be the issue? I have reinstalled the UAD drivers and followed all the relevant guides I’ve seen on this thread. otherwise everything is running great I think, but as this is the main comp in my studio I need audio to be working perfectly. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

** Mini-Guide: Upgrading from Clover 4xxx to Clover 5xxx **

The upgrade is quite straightforward, but there is one manual post-upgrade step we have to perform:
  • Make a full bootable backup first.
  • Run the Clover 5xxx .pkg installer.
  • Choose your Install Location. This is the existing macOS internal SSD.
  • Then click the Customize button on the lower left.
  • Check on only the following:
    • Clover for UEFI booting only
    • Install Clover in the ESP
  • All other options in the Customize section should be unchecked.
  • If you see a warning about the software not being supported on the current platform, select Continue Anyway.
  • When installation is complete, quit the installer.
Now we'll perform the manual post-upgrade steps:
  • First, you will notice that the EFI partition of the macOS SSD has already been mounted for you.
  • Navigate to the CLOVER folder.
  • You will now find two "drivers" directories:
    • drivers64UEFI -- this is the old one from Clover 4xxx
    • drivers/UEFI -- this is the new one from Clover 5xxx
  • To be safe, delete everything from inside the newly created drivers/UEFI folder (but do not delete the folder itself).
  • Copy everything from the old drivers64UEFI folder to the new drivers/UEFI folder.
  • Now delete the old drivers64UEFI folder and empty the trash. This is necessary.
  • Reboot.

did you check your display name in the top under system -> displays ? does it mention hdr in the title? i'm using a lg 4k hdr 27inch monitor with display port running from monitor to my vega frontier edition gpu. did you successfully install 10.15.4 without any errors or errors that mention "bless" before restart? apple announced it will be available to certain monitors that support hdr in the 10.15.4 release notes.

Hello everyone. I updated to 10.15.4 last night and have seen "lockups" when my displays go to sleep. No issues in 10.15.3. I'm looking to roll back unfortunately unless there's an easy fix.

Thanks!

Connecting a TV to the Hackintosh? Oh no, my least favorite topic... :(

Solution: Connect a lovely shiny tiny Apple TV to your HDR TV. Problem solved. :)
