8) reboot and choose your drive as default boot drive through BIOS.
9) Only if you get boot0 error when trying to boot from your drive bootloader :
use solution 1 from here : http://www.tonymacx86.com/25-boot0-error-official-guide.html
quick reminder for advanced users : dd if=/usr/standalone/i386/boot1h of=/dev/diskXsY

10 NOTE) From here you should have a working system apart for the Gigabyte sound input/output.
Note that sometimes, when I boot my new OS X with a USB stick plugged in, I get IOUSBFamily kernel panic. Just try to reboot again, and/or remove your USB sticks from the computer during boot. :(

11) to activate the sound : follow the great guide created by Toleda : http://www.tonymacx86.com/audio/112461-mavericks-no-audio-realtek-alc-applehda-guide.html

To go quickly on my experience with it :
11a) Sometimes I am blocked in the section**"III. No Codec" and I have no idea why (Can the sound chip bug ? Toleda’s instruction III .1.1.1-6 would suppose it) . Just reboot and hope you see the codec name "Realtek ALC1150" in DPCI Manager.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/dpcimanager/
11b) Now if you can you see the codec name "Realtek ALC1150" in DPCI Manager, then in IORegistryExplorer my default layout-id is <00 00 00 00> (in IORegistryExplorer do a search with HDEF to find your layout-id) so I have no audio devices. I then installed HDAEnabler1.kext https://github.com/toleda/audio_kext_enabler/blob/master/HDAEnabler1.kext.zip using KextBeast. Then restarted, then verified that my layout-id was now <01 00 00 00> and that I had sound input and output working for the ALC1150.

(I don’t know about HDMI Audio as I don’t care about it).

…Thanks to Toleda, TonymacX86, and all the active forum members / tools developers !

One more thing not working (but just because I haven't yet checked about it) is iMessage logging.

Hi man! I'm happy for your success!

I had a bad experience with the z87 model of your motherboard and same processor.
When i bought that motherboard the bios didn't support the CPU, becouse only with a newer bios it support the 4790k.
So I just ordered a GA-Z97X-UD3H like you,and I hope that it arrive in few days with a bios enough recent to support my 4790K (devil's).
When you assembled the desktop had you encountered compatibility problem with this board and the 4790k with stock bios?

THANX!

Anyone try Yosemite on this board combo? I'm looking to get pretty much the same system, I want to set up something up for video editing and while the new iMac 5k looks nice adding all the bells and whistles costs $4400.. ouch..

Ill prob do 512 ssd for apps, and then a nice fast second drive for my video storage.

Hows the nvidia card hold up? Do you get open gl acceleration?

From the post it seems people only have issues with audio to get it, so from what I read and correct me if im wrong, its quite a plane vanilla install w/o much work ..

I tried this after trying a lot of other stuff to get my first hackintosh up and running. The two main difference things in my setup is my graphic card gtx 750 TI that i've noticed a lot of us had some problems with. The other thing i changed was that i used the Yosemite installer. I set up the bios just as in this post but i have f4 not f7 (so yeah third difference :D).

One thing to make sure is.... have no extra ram installed other than one and also disconnect every usb-drive well everything that isnt necessary to install the system. Also disconnect other harddrives if you have any. Connect everything when you have the system up and running.

Had to start install with -x and nv_disable=1 to get through the first post install stuff and then it installed just fine. For the restart (before Multibeast) i had to again use -x and nv_disable=1.

When the system was installed with Multibeast i didn't need the -x but still nv_disable=1 and after installing web drivers and getting them up and running it was a breeze. The only problem left was the sound.... I use a DAC from the USB that ran perfectly right after install so it wasnt really a big problem for me just that i knew the system wasnt perfectly installed ;)
Well what did it for me was installing Voodoo HDA 2.8.6 and after that i have sound installed and working. The system (Yosemite) has been running for five days now and no problems other than the imessage which i never use on the computer anyway so not a problem for me anyway. (But just knowing it bugs me but not nearly as much as the sound :p)

Hope this can be some help to others

I have the same mobo and enabled Intel Virtualization Technology and Dynamic Storage Accelerator… Run great with El Capitan… I even upgraded through the app from Yosemite to El Capitan… Due to certain software such as Autosampler 2 that I purchased years ago this will be my last upgrade because I’m told AS2 won’t work on any other version after 10.11… Anyway everything works great on this mobo…

I guess I will build a new OS X rig and use it as a second DAW unit…
