Thank you to everybody in this great community. I worked on Mac for 5 years, never build my own PC so i really started from zero. But due to the great topics and people on this community it was very EASY for me to build my first hackintosh.

First off I want to say if you are going to use the i7 4790K please make sure the BIOS of your Gigabyte is updated to 10B/10C. The one I bought was stuck at version 4 and didn't recognize the i7. What I had to do to fix this was head to the store and buy a cheap CPU (thanks @RJ985). You can find the how to here:
http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-buil...0-4gb-dual-boot-windows-8-a-2.html#post847449

I bought the CELERON G3220 (which is around € 50,00 (http://www.newegg.com/global/nl/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819116950), put it in the Motherboard, updated the bios and switched back my i7 4790K in it: worked out just fine!

How to set up the BIOS and MultiBeast:
you can find it here (thanks luiz0992), I used exactly the same settings: http://www.tonymacx86.com/user-buil...770-4gb-dual-boot-windows-8-a.html#post837941

I disabled the TURBO of the i7 since I had some freezes. System is running flawless now and I am going to look into the XMP/Turbo topic later on. For now my system is running just fine.

What works

  • Audio 898.
  • Intel ethernet
  • Sleeping function working
  • iMessage
  • USB 3.0 (All ports, front and back)

    Additional in my Hackintosh:
    • WIFI
    • FIREWIRE
    • USB

What doesn't

  • After sleep, sound doesn't work, internal sound card (though I use the Apogee Duet Firewire and that one DID work)

Geekbench Score:

Section Description Score Geekbench Score
Geekbench 2.3.3 Tryout for Mac OS X x86 (64-bit)
Integer Processor integer performance 15087 17170
Floating Point Processor floating point performance 26013
Memory Memory performance 9602
Stream Memory bandwidth performance 8651

Next step is buying a new SSD (still doubting if its going to be a 120 GB or 250 gb) for a Windows 8 drive. I am going to use the following thread for it which seems to be answering all my questions:

Like said before: I never made my own custom build PC and if you can play Tetris, you do some research like I did you will come a long way :)! Thanks and good luck out there!

nice hack congratulations :thumbup::headbang:

What all did you do to get iMessage working? I have a Gigabyte 87-HD3 and the same wireless card, but no matter what fixes I try, none have worked. Thanks in advance c:

it did worked out of the box for me. maybe its your firewall/little snitch settings?

Nice Setup! Any interesting additional cooling setup for CPU or the case?

not yet, im also new in overclocking and very limited in time due to an own company...but it is something i want to explore in the future as a hobby. Was thinking of maybe using a water cooling system for it. As soon as i get time....!!!

Great build I was just wondering what System Definition you were running are you running a DSDT?

I am having issues booting up with the iMac 14,2 definition and turbo engaged on my 4790k.

I used these settings:
