Comments/Install Method

Installing components onto this Mobo was a touch easier than using the GA-Z77N-WiFI board. There is slightly more space. Of particular note: a Hypercooler 212-EVOs copper pipes will slightly touch your RAM (depending on configuration) when using the Z77N-Wifi. This is *not* the case with the GA-Z87n-Wifi. The Zalman z9 Plus comes with 4 120mm quiet-style fans: 3 LED and 1 regular. I replaced them all with only 2 Noctua 120mm fans using the most quiet voltage reducing adapter.

Installing MultiBeast was uneventful. I followed the standard guide found here:

http://www.tonymacx86.com/374-unibeast-install-os-x-mavericks-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html

Specific MultiBeast settings are below.

A fresh install of Mavericks was used. Software Update was Performed. Repair permissions initiated.

I then *only* installed Chimera v2.2.1, Ethernet Kext, and Basic options shown below.

I then used Time Machine to replace the temporary user OS X installed with a previous user profile from an existing Hackintosh. Restarted after. Used *previous* /Extras folder from my previous hack system. See following image for MultiBeast settings.

Once everything was stable, I OC'd the system to 4.4GHz, ran stability tests, OCd the RAM to 1800MHz, ran more stability tests. See following images for BIOS settings, temps under stress, etc.

note: Although the Mobo has two Ethernet ports (depending on configuration in case) only the Lower/Right hand port worked for me. See following image.

Note: Make sure you turn *off* Wake On Lan in BIOS or you will get the reboot on shut down error.

Sleep, reboot, iMessages works, USB 3.0 works, speed stepping *appears* to function with no DSDT/SSDT. This is the most solid mac-like hack I've ever owned with zero hassle or frustration on any level.

Everything works perfectly. I'm beyond happy with it. I really can't recommend this mobo+CPU combo enough.

I have the same setup (MB/CPU/Fan). The issue im running into though is that the backplate for the Hyper 212 evo seems to touch some of the electronic components. Can you take a photo of your backplate on the corners? I seem to have shorted my board already (Just got it back from Gigabyte on a RMA)
