GA-G41MT-S2PT Rev. 2.1 Mavericks 10.9.1 Install

SYSTEM:
Gigabyte GA-G41MT-S2PT rev 2.1
Core 2 Duo 2.4ghz
Kingston 1333 4gb
Nvidia 9600GT 512mb

BIOS:
1. Load optimized defaults
2. Use onboard graphics - 256Mg (save and re-enter bios if memory option doesn't show)
3. HPET Mode- 64bit
4. USB Keyboard & Mouse Legacy - on

Install Mavericks 10.9.1 per tonymac unibeast

Reboot to usb - select recently installed on HDD (per unibeast)

Put DSDT on desktop
Run MultiBeast 6.0.1 - USER DSDT method - leave all other preset selections

Reboot to HDD

Install Lan & audio kexts via kextbeast
Inject video and ethernet string to boot.plist
Repair Permission

Reboot - Disable onboard graphics

Done - Mavericks 10.9.1 on a $250.00 machine

ADDITIONAL- for migration....
Migrated only user accounts and apps and not during install
Repair permissions (and when/if you remove a HDD from the system)

(if KP,- boot with -v -f or -x then repair permissions)


Notes:
I was most successful at fresh install - migration during install gave KP's with same above method/kexts - migration after setup worked- see below
Recommended (for non new machine install): (this is my sons machine and I needed to keep all apps and game settings)
Fully backup HDD to another HDD via disk utility
install fresh - create your user account - migrate other user account and apps after you get the machine running stable *edit* I still had issues - deleted all kext in s/l/e and replaced with kext (that I copied just incase) prior to migration, repair permissions, touch, rebuild cache etc.- solved**

it seems it will hang in boot on ‘fakesmc.kext’ and applertc.kext’ from time to time especially if I removed a hdd or changed the boot theme - repair permissions/rebuild cache etc... fixes it

I tried long time, but i can't install on my PC.

you have to have a certain core 2 duo - not all work - it must be 64 bit
and I don't know if your video card is compatible - you have to check - it may have been compatible in older builds,.... but Im not sure about Mavericks - but note: you have to use onboard video during install

there is no one step process to this - you first must research your components
re-read tonymacs install guides

I have tried everything I can think of to get the sound working but not successful any Ideas..

I know I first used voodoo's audio on the first try and it worked - but I recall not working perfectly
then I installed just kexts after a fresh install using kext beast

make sure you check your boards revision - there is a difference depending on the revision - mine was 2.1

see attached kext zip (included the ethernet too) and also gave ya the voodoo driver I used at one point

Great thank you... it works now... but now I'm trying to install a nvidia geforce 8600 gt my cuda driver works with Mountain Lion but its will not work with Maverick.. can you suggest a cheap video card that will work with this motherboard..

good - finally I helped someone - yes I gave back a little...


think I heard that the 8600 don't work in Mav but can't be sure

I have nvidia brand 9600GT in my son's computer's - $35 on ebay (used a evga 9600GT in my z68 build)
but had to make a efi string

did you try a efi string for the vid, put the code in the ...boot.plist?


that may be the solution before you spend money

Either way - unless you spend $$ on a current vid thats supported you will probably have to do a efi string

I have never had to do anything to the bootlistpld if I buy the same card you have could you just send me the kexts.. I know how to do that at least
