Has anyone with this build updated to 10.12.5?
If so, what issues (if any) did you run into?

I did see the main "macOS 10.12.5 Update" page (https://www.tonymacx86.com/threads/macos-10-12-5-update.220866/), but it's unclear what applies to this build and what doesn't (Or I'm just a confused n00b ... :) )

Thanks!

Simply follow the instructions on the 10.12.5 (or now the 10.12.6) update pages - and especially pay close attention to the follow-up/#2 post from @Stork for more details on how to successfully make the update. I've updated my machine a while back to 10.12.5, and as soon as I'm done with a big project, will then take the time to update to 10.12.6.

This looks like a very good option. I sometimes have to do video editing. Would sticking in a better video card do the trick? Sorry. I am fairly new to this.
The current video card does a great job - BUT, of course, at the time of the build, the 1xxx-series cards were still not compatible. I've already started shopping for one of the newest generation cards, and as soon as I get that, I'll update the build post.

Thanks. I'll give that a go ... once my machine boots again.

It was booting intermittently for a while (and I had not had a chance to dig down and determine the cause).
However, today it's stopped booting altogether. I see the following on the screen:

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

So, I removed the "fenvi FV-T919" card from the computer, and the computer boots again.

Is this common?
How do I tell if it's a bad card or a driver issue?
Side bar: I've noticed that if I unplug my ethernet cable, the computer will often restart (suddenly!)

Thanks,

I did the 10.12.6 update, and the reboot fails with what looks like:

Please switch to XPC or bootstrap_check_in(): com.apple.bad.dirhelper

error. I've attached a screenshot.

Does that have to do with the video driver? (I have an NVDIA 970x)
Do I need to somehow installer the NVDIA web drivers before it'll reboot?
Or maybe the NVMe driver?

Anyway -- I appreciate all the help.

Thanks,

Hi,

I'd like some pointers on debugging an intermittent freeze.
  • When the freeze occurs, the spinning color wheel appears momentarily, then it, too, freezes.
  • I can ping the machine from another machine
  • ssh tries to connect and, with debug enabled, it displays "debug1: connection established", but never gets farther than that.
Any thoughts on how to determine where the machine is freezing?

Thanks, in advance!

What OS? I found that High Sierra may cause a freeze sometimes. I'm using Nvidia graphics.

Hi,

I've discovered that this freeze seems to be caused by the "Fenvi T919" wireless card. Once I remove it, it does not freeze at all.

Could this be a bad card? Or am I possibly missing some settings I need to apply?

Thanks!
