[Success] b1's "Mac Mini Killer" with macOS Mojave: i7-8700 | Gigabyte Z370N | RX560 | 16GB RAM

@b166ar

How important are the things in these two places when I'm only using RX560 (no iGPU - turned off in BIOS)

Thanks for the great work and support.

Message to all: I don’t recommend you to use beta version of macOS with untested SMBIOS without QuickSync :crazy:

Could you attache your config.plist? I will take a look. Because my QuickSync didn't work.

That is strange because SMBIOS 19.2 and 19.1 need a special version of macOS.

It is possible to use 19.2 with -no_compat_check boot option. But, I found that QuickSync doesn't work with SMBIOS. Will keep you updated.

It turned out that QuickSync works on macOS 10.14.5 beta with SMBIOS 19.2.

So, if you want to switch to SMBIOS 19.2 (iMac 2019) that gives better Power Management and CPU frequency control, just wait for macOS 10.14.5.

Do you think this applies only to the newest 9th Intel processors generation? Or could it be beneficial to our 8th generation processors as well?

For RX4XX/5XX GPUs, IQSV no longer important on 10.14.5 beta 2, RX4XX/5XX IOGVA is natively supported, all HW encoding/decoding can be executed by DGPU, and should work properly without IGPU enabled.

CPU PM work in HWP mode, default idle frequency offset to 1.3 GHz, slightly better than XCPM mode.

All iMac 2019 used Z370 or Z390 chipset. Teoretecly SMBIOS 19.x should have better compatibility. I noticed better Power Management.

iMac's 21.5 (19.2) have 8th-generation CPUs and Radeon Pro 560x graphics. That is why I chose this SMBIOS.

iMac's 27 (19.1) have 8th- and 9th-generation CPU's with Radeon Pro 570X/575X/580X and optional Vega 48. This SMBIOS recommended for people with i9 and Vega, but should also work with my build.
