What I needed:
Originally intended as a mining rig, I stumbled across this case while rummaging around a bitcoin forum. The guy actually had the same requirements I did - so serendipity! I did not consider any other case after finding this one.
The case for its price-point is perfect, especially with the crazy amount of (sadly 4-pin) fans, built in filter and rackmounted-ness. It is also 32lbs, which is heavy, but sturdy. My cats are terrified of it, which helps.
So: the Guide.
As an overview, we will be starting out on newly-installed hardware, with a Snow Leopard 10.6.8 Retail DVD and an iBoot USB disk. We will end up with a fresh copy of Yosemite, fully updated, with both integrated HD 4600 and discrete AMD R797 3GB graphics enabled and fully usable with DVI-D, HDMI, and DisplayPort out.
Sleep will/is also fully functioning, as well as full WiFi, Bluetooth, Power Management (as far as I believe), and of course graphics acceleration.
It will be Christmas for me in less than 12 hours, so I will complete the rest of this guide then, as a Christmas present!
Go enjoy your families, friends, and gifts!

What I needed:
- A box that could withstand two cats who shed like four cats
- A box that could heat up a room if needed, but also stay cool and quiet in an apartment with no AC
- A box that I could rack-mount later in a studio with rack instruments/effects or a server cabinet
