One item you may want to do is to install a modified bios file on this motherboard -

http://biosrepo.wordpress.com/asus/z68/

Also the HD6970 could be a problem - suggest only one video card to install - OSX has no need for SLI or Crossfire.

The HD6970 will not function well or if at all w OSX SL - suggest you use a less powerful card - say a nVidia GT 8400gs or a GT9400 -GT9500 etc. To get this project off the ground and then upgrade the GFX after you have completed all the upgrades

I would also do some searches on this site for that card and how it works w Snow Leopard.

You will also need to use a modified install as you have a Sandy Bridge CPU /MotherBoard.

How to do a sandybridge cpu w compatable hardware OSX hack 10.6.8 build. jester969

Typical installation steps are:
1) iBoot + Disk Utility + install Snow Leopard DVD (perform install via DVD) reboot
2) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD (boot with iBoot and loading OS via newly installed HDD) - get welcome screen
3) Run Update Helper and Reboot?
4) iBoot + Installed OSX HDD, run combo update 10.6.8 , DO NOT reboot
5) Run Multibeast and select option which are required to your board and run System Utilities.
6) Reboot w/out iBoot

Audio/Ethernet/DSDT

DSDT and BIOS firmware must match to the corresponding number.

As you don't have a DSDT file - you may want to make one - or search for it - check the DSDT section just incase.

So I can install os x with another graphics card ? And install my 6970 later ?

One more thing.

Correct me if im wrong, but if I want to install ML, I need to install SL first... Right?

The thing is, I dont get to the welcome screen... I get the Apple logo and the spinning thing and then the whole screen goes white... But I can see and move my cursor...

To get to ML you need to have a system Mac or Hack that you can download the installer file onto and then run UniBeast to make the Install Thumb Drive.

If you do not have mac or hack then you need to install SL and then get the download file to make the ML thumb drive out of.

Not sure what your doing so you need to describe the steps you taking and the commands you're giving it ...

If you have the RETAIL OSX SL DVD and you swapped it and you booted from the iBoot 3.3.x CD.

Then you should have entered some commands before you hit the enter key when the OSX DVD was highlighted in the IBOOT Tony Mac Window.

those being " -v acpi=off PCIRootUID=1 npci=0x2000 "

this should get you to the initial install screen where you have to prep the drive w the disk utilities as mentioned in the guide.

Take pic and post pls

these are some links you should look at

You can find some information at this link as well - DSDT -
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/272604-asus-maximus-iv-extreme-z-dsdt/

this is the Hardware Compatibility List for OSX on hardware - but this is for `10.7.2
http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.7.2

Note that many make reference to a 09xx BIOS file you may need to down rev your BIOS - or consider that Modded BIOS which ever you use make mention of it in your posts.....
