Hey guys, I'm totally new here and I'm building my first Hackintosh from scratch.

Hardware:
Mother Board: ga-z77x-ud5h
HDD: 1Tb Western Digital Sata
Ram: Using 1 stick of 4Gb ram for install
CPU: Intel i7 3770 (SandyBridge)
GPU: None (will this effect me?)

I managed to use iBoot Legacy to install OSX 10.6.3 on my machine. I then followed these, http://tonymacx86.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/get-ready-for-os-x-lion-update-to-1068.html, instructions to update to 10.6.8. After the second reboot I expected IOS to boot from the HDD. This failed and flagged up a Boot0 error. Most fixes for the Boot0 error require MultiBeast: http://www.tonymacx86.com/25-boot0-error-official-guide.html. To get my hands on ML I tried booting with iBoot, but the system hangs on the Apple splashscreen (no spinning waiting thing).

Any advice would be massively appriciated as there's only so much I can do with my very limited knowledge!

Cheers

You can not boot Snow Leopard from the HDD because there is no support for the 7 series chipset or the 3770 Ivy Bridge CPU in the kernel. If you updated to 10.6.8 successfully, download mountain Lion and follow http://www.tonymacx86.com/61-unibeast-install-os-x-mountain-lion-any-supported-intel-based-pc.html to install Mountain Lion.

Thanks very much for the reply

Unfortunately I can't tell whether or not the update was successful because even when using iBoot the system hangs at the apple splash screen (no spinning waiting thing). How much joy do you think I'd have if I borrowed a friends Mac to get my hands on ML and then use UniBeast?

With your hardware, your friends Mac and UniBeast would be your easiest way to go.

It's frustrating that the only way to get hold of ML is through the App Store! Will try using my friends Mac to download it and see how I get on.

Do you think it will work with Lion rather than Mountain Lion? My friend doesn't have ML.
