Further update on that ASMedia USB A port issue... Contacted Asus support and told them what is happening with the speed compared on the type c and they have arranged for amazon.co.uk to send me a complete replacement board as the physical port seems defective! Will come tomorrow so I will have to get it all transplanted and can test again. Turns out Asus offer a 36 month warranty in the UK rather than the usual 12 which is pretty impressive.
@pastrychef Replacement motherboard installed and the ASMedia 3.1 gen2 Type-A port is now correctly mounting USB3 devices and working at 5Gbps again with no change to and BIOS, Clover or system setup. So, clearly, it was a hardware failure somehow getting the port stuck in USB2 mode. Thanks again for testing the ports on your build to give me a direct comparison for performance and double checking my EFI. Time to update to 10.14.5!

@Chimiel, See this thread >
Hi Stork,

I was wondering; did you settle for a port limit removal patch or did you make a custom USB SSDT ?

Kind regards,

Hello again
Would it be nice to change the smbios from 18.3 to iMac 19.1 with the update 10.14.5?

I don't recommend it unless you're using the i9 processors as does the iMac19.1.

Hi Stork, and others,

I don't know if anyone already posted something similar;

I build this weekend a custom USB SSDT, it works !, thanks to UtterDisbelief.

I have attached the .dsl file and an oversight of the port mappings.
HS1/SS01, HS01/SS02 and HS09 are added case ports (see mobs layout attachment).
Maybe this info can save others time, to get to a working SSDT USB.aml file.
I used 'a beginners guide to creating a custom USB SSDT' provided by and thanks to UtterDisbelief;

Kind regards,

Chimiel

26-05-2019; Sorry folks, to whom it might concern; the .dsl file I attached last week had a typo, the new .dsl file should work / should make a good template.

Kind regards,

Michiel

@Chimiel, Great! I was going to create an USB SSDT using @UtterDisbelief's guide, but hadn't "gotten 'round to it". I'll try your USB SSDT out, and update the OP with credit to you.

Hi all max X Hero users,

Has anyone noticed (and eventually already installed) the latest BIOS 1901?
I'm just curious to know if they reenabled the options to enable iGPU MultiMonitor and PEG for POST (in reference to post #5170 of this thread).
I'm just too busy (and scared...) to try myself.
Cheers!
